Removing them is a terrible idea.

i've tested and light transports can't carry jacks, but can carry ogre, and also firewalkers,penetrators and emissary, which could be used to place them on unreachable positions near the enemy base.

transports are crazy fast at the moment, the light one moves almost as fast as a swift when empty and even the heavy transport moves 40% faster than locusts.

Regarding knowing which units are transportable, you can see whether they're Charon carry-able on the wiki unit stat sheets labeled "light" or "heavy", which according to the wiki, should just be based on mass (and mass should be just derived from a formula weighting cost and HP). Also, speed-while-carried is supposedly calculated from the mass (iirc, Speed * [CharonMass + CargoMass / 2 * CharonMass]).
