It's not untargetable. It is invisible because of how Spring LoS works.

This is why ZK reveals positions of enemy units shooting within the nominal sight radius of your units since 2016.

Things shoot it in the head, so if it can shoot, it can be shot as long as collision volumes and aiming goes.

units aim at about center mass of the stinger, the stinger fires from the top. units that have direct fire or very little projectile drop cannot fire on a stinger that is sufficiently buried because there's no direct path between the unit's fire point and the target center mass. However, generally in these cases you can force fire/ attack the wall just behind the stinger in the hole and the projectile will impact the stinger's hitbox for full damage. It's possible to deal damage, but units will not automatically deal that damage.

Is there a fix for this? I don't know, but I can't think of anything all that good. There could be an alternative firepoint at the top of the stinger, but that can't be default because units like ravager would lose range against the stinger by having to fire up so far, and they can't even tilt their cannon above a certain height. The game will probably not be able to feasibly have 2 firepoints.

Another thing about stingers, I think that a faraday directly in front of a stinger will tank damage from a grizzly attacking the stinger itself, observed in https://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/704044 attacking ruru's porc in base. I could be wrong on this, but that felt really bad to see a half HP stinger survive a grizzly strike and the closed faraday loose just like 300HP.
