With such a massive wealth of proffesionally casted games in existence, it really seems like we should be making more effort to direct players to watch them. Are there any plans to integrate this resource into the lobby or website pre-steam? If you want to inspire people to get interested in our competitive scene I can't think of a better way than showing that not only does one already exist, but people are interested enough in it to be casting it.

Showing the stream on site front page and lobby main page should be a thing. Look at Valve's games.

Lobby tech wise it belongs here: https://github.com/ZeroK-RTS/Zero-K-Infrastructure/issues/1551

It's a minor thing imo.

Casting scene? More like CArankAdminShadowfury333 casting stand. "casting scene" impression would imply that there is more than 1 caster. Whereas there is noone else then mr Ravenfury unless you want to count me, kaen, Parcival, or floris none of which do their content regularly and haven't been posting any videos as of late (that is for the last 1-3 years).

I think Shadowfury does a really good job. Good enough to be shown off.

Chobby already has links to Shadowfury's casts. There are also similar links on the site.
I think you need to be much more specific about the feature request if you want something done.

PS: I think it's not the responsibility of small team, indie/open-source games to create a casting platform.

Didn't Shadowfury become a dev specificaly as a video making peopleperson?
http://zero-k.info/mediawiki/index.php?title=Credits claims so

In that case Shadowfury is already advertised as THE caster of ZK on almost every possible step and is recognized by every member of ZK community. I don't think there really is a reason to do it any further. Perhaps if ZK had a huge influx of new oblivious players then sure that could be actually be of use to inform more players that these casts exist.

I skimmed the main page in incognito mode and didn't learn about any casts.

I wouldn't want to have more links. Both homepage and chobby already have unhealthy amounts of them stowed in every corner. Instead, show the actual stream playing in the center of the page/welcome screen. Eventually this may be limited to tournament streams, but for now I don't see the problem with showing any.

With this it's much easier for existing players to find the streams and new players will have the option to directly get in a chat and see the real game. Everybody can make cool trailers nowadays and while the stream will only be up for a few hours a week, it'll give a much more convincing representation that this game is both alive and playable.

I'm not suggesting its a responsibility or that a platform needs to be made, I'm just suggesting that the videos are a strong marketing asset that does not need any additional polish or work from the development team. Taking advantage of it by making sure new players or people investigating the game are directed to see them seems like very little trouble for a good benefit.

Not exactly. My motivations for dev work are all about the videos, but I have done quite a bit of code work, mostly with shaders and COFC (though not recently).

Oh gosh no, that's so annoying. I hate game websites that autoplay sound and video. Especially if every click reloads the entire stream. So if you really plan to implement that, at least make the rest of the website load without refreshing the entire page.

Autoplay is not required. Currently the logged-out homepage shows the trailer video with a bunch of stuff below it. A stream video could be embedded below and stream links could be included.
