Are just in time procedurally generated maps with some consistent static features like in a roguelike possible to make in Zero-K?

I have a slightly related question. Why can't I get missions already published to play by clicking the button while logged into the site and Chobby?

Yes but it's not easy. Try HexFarm.

I suppose you could do something similar already if you modified the heightmap and diffuse in Lua, but it has its own problems. zwzsg was making procedurally generated maps a long time ago.

True procedural generation requires engine support. I did something similar and I pushed it to https://github.com/spring/spring/tree/luamapgen . It's largely WIP and the API still has many design issues, but it can produce simple examples like . More work to follow when I'm less busy (if that time ever comes!). Contact me if you want to help.

Dunno about the missions but I assume no one implemented that feature in Chobby's ZK server protocol.

The best form of procedural map generation is having a good map editor and letting lots of people use it.
