In fairness, I was going to put "...but it sure worked" in the blurb, but I didn't want to have that spoiled.

I was mainly curious about it because of how Red Comet tends to bias towards vehicles, but then again it isn't that big of a map.

I'ev had this happen alot in my recent games. Stardust can usually stop it with a but of luck as well.

Isn't Stardust just asking for a buoy (or, worse, griz)?

I mean stardust would prevent raid but archer only needs to dominate early game trades and secure expansion for grizzly to come later.

However I'm curious if ravager monospam would work. Sparkles tried it a bit earlier on but it wasn't done properly. It was a mistake to fight in the same location all the time, ravagers can simply ignore buoys, scallops and grizzly. Enough ravagers should give archers a difficult time though I can't say for certain because archers often defy logic.

Then there was a lot of metal invested in capture cars which inevitably was countered by grizzly then a lot of fencers were built, also countered hard by grizzly. I have personally lost grizzly very quickly to scorchers and ravagers, if it gets caught out of position and over run its really bad.

I would like to see this match up but instead with constant raiding by ravagers, avoiding head on fights.

It seems like the archers can deflect ravagers really well but they can't kill them very fast and I dont think ravagers arent light enough to get stunlocked. Archers would probably have a hard time preventing a wide formation of ravagers from overrunning all your territory.

IME Archers beat Ravager hard, they do get stunlocked. It doesn't let Amph counterattack without grizzly (especially if you have those fencers still around), but that's still a losing proposition if you cannot attack yourself.

Fencer doesn't need to beat all of amph all the time, it just needs to prevent Archer from preventing Amph expansion from being threatened, then you can transition to rav/dart/scorch (and thunderbird).

In low densities Darts can fight Archers fairly well too. High speed lets them close, and once slow sets in the Archer isn't that scary.

I'm surprised we're discussing this game so much. From my perspective it was just who failed less. I went for amphbots because it's small map and I pictured archer doing great against scorchers and darts (or kodachis). (and because I hate light veh myself, playing them feels like cheating to me - while someone changes cheat codes)

On the downside I felt the need to spam porc on the other side because amphs are much slower (and terrible vs porc) so I couldn't react fast if Sparkles decided to change fronts and attack my commander.

amphib vs rover is an interesting discussion because its hard to say what the rover player should have done different since archer so stronk
