My preferred gizmo for the Goli cupola would be a solution for the bane of the Heavy Tanks lab: a landscaping nanolathe. Unfortunately, the mechanism for landscaping means that the nano would need to be able to assist any construction... and assist without repair would be counterintuitive, so you'd probably have to throw in repair too... and a Goli that can repair units is scary.

All those maps I listed are featured and are small maps with about that much reclaim. Yes, this is the situation for which the puppy was nerfed. These are prettymuch the only featured maps with rocks anyway so they're the only ones effected.

pxtl so you are saying goli could be some superheavy con?

Landscaping-only con... maybe repair at a stretch, but that might be OP. The Tank lab is the lab that needs landscaping the most even without deliberate attempts involving enemy cons or dirtbags. Heavy tanks often find themselves in pockmarked landscapes, or Golis at the bottom of a crater after being blasted to heck by something that didn't kill it.

The other factor is the Goli's flamethrower can shoot through landscaping, making it popular for assaulting landscape-walled targets. So now that the flamer is gone, give it a beefy landscape-only nanolathe.

Of course, landscape-only nano might be messy, as I said above. Landscaping requires assist... Assist-only would be counterintuitive because the UI doesn't differentiate between assisting and repairing.

It's just a random thought I had... just that the Tremor-smoothing was a neat concept, and it'd be worthwhile expanding it out to other units in the Tank lab and expand landscaping gear out into other units

thread title should probally say v1.0.8.7 (switch 8 and 7)

Goliath change:
imo a flame thrower fits better than a slow beam. (look & feel)
heavy vehicles seem like they use more brute force and tried&tested technology instead of such fancy things as a slow beam laser.
(beside panther but imo that is misplaced anyway)
See the Tremor with all its gun barrels or the bulldozer style constructor.
slow beam is just not enough redneck engineering.

Aesthetics aside, the problem is that heavy units are too multipurpose. The Goli was really only weak to dedicated anti-heavy units and enemy heavies... this wasn't fun gameplay, so its riot weapon was removed, making it more vulnerable to raiders.

We can argue till the cows come home about the "right" cupola weapon for the Goli, but the flamethrower was not it.

What would you put on the Panther to make it "fit"? Swap its armament with the Scorcher?

/*so its riot weapon was removed, making it more vulnerable to raiders.*/
acuelly i found goliath never that big a threat when playing vs it with light veh.
The flame thrower seemed more cosmetic, slow beam might maybe be even better than flamer when goliath is swarmed by raiders?
(but i did not see the new goliath in action yet)

/*What would you put on the Panther to make it "fit"? Swap its armament with the Scorcher? */
Idk, panther seems too fast and light for heavy lab. It is good for running through holes in defense and raid but that does not feel very "heavies playstyle."
Also leave flash alone!

I like the panther - the most expensive raider ever - its the kodachi that needs looking at imo
