Not seeing terrain shadows

Have an older nvidia 9800GT GPU. Not seeing terrain shadows - shadows are cast onto decals and onto units, but not onto terrain. Toggling terrain shadows in the Settings/Graphics/Map detail options does nothing. Also, the "toggle" things in the menu kind of fail for UI feedback - I have no idea if the state is on or off with them filtered out in chat.

Had the same issue with nvidia GTX 760 on Ubuntu 15.04, but in my case just had to set "Shadows = 1" in springsettings.cfg. Now the toggle works as advertised.

You're right about those on/off buttons failing too.

I'm not sure about UI, but at least the console can be fixed by pressing F8.

Yeah, the debug console is toggled with f8, since otherwise the chat gets filled with all sorts of internal log info that doesn't contribute to the game.

However, it is supposed to show toggle feedback (other than widgets, since those will show options and such as feedback), so another exception should be added to the whitelist for terrain shadows.

I had the same problem with shadows on 9600 GT for no reason (changing settings did nothing) and it somehow disappeared after Spring reinstall. If you gonna do that, I can recommend to copy maps somewhere, so u don't have to download them again.

Thanks for the advice, but it didn't help.

When you say Spring reinstall, what do you mean? Installing the Spring standalone package or ZK?

I meant ZK reinstall (it deletes whole Spring directory AFAIK, so that's what I mean). Also the advanced map shading works now while it rendered all black map in the past...
