The last few versions, when DErankChesti sends me a PM, the notification I see says "someone wants your attention in the battle room" and the battle channel flashes as well.

When other people send me PMs everything is fine.

Admins can imbue their PMs with rings (and ZKL treats all rings as coming from battle room). AFAIK Chesti is using some weird lobby which probably does this by default.
