Even i dislike units who produce drones at no cost but funnel now is just piece of shit. It costs 4500 metal and is almost useless. Devs stripped funnel from weapon, second shield, drone fly range, drone respawn range, regeneration. What left? 4500 metal worth unit who can be disabled by one razor.. Its only 'support role' now is drain metal from nab who build it.. Three funnels can't deal with repaired 5 razors.. I think nerf for funnelweb for its price is too high.

I suspect the Funnelweb is rarely worth building anymore.

Drone production speeds and delays were nerfed too much.

Commanders can build their own drones to speed it up a bit, but funnelwebs cannot.

You're probably right, but I'd rather have weakish funnels than funnels goo enough to mass spam(although it was fun while it lasted).

Yeah the unit is a complete trap now. Should strip at least 1000 off the cost IMO. There's no way funnel is worth as much as a dante on the field. Even at 3500 it'd still be bad. Reminds me of moderator for 300 back in the day.

Good riddance, ZK is much more fun without funnelballs being the endgame. Now we see the other striders, dante, catapult, scorpion, bantha, and detriment, in pretty much equal amounts depending on circumstances.

The other striders are also much more fun and interesting to micro. Funnels just move back and forward in a blob, unleashing their drones and retreating.

A funnel rework could be fine if it became something different than it is now. The forward-only firing gauss funnel was my favorite iteration of it (without the gravity dgun). That version of the unit was powerful, but the inability to fire backwards made positioning important and surrounding/flanking it possible. The gravity dgun was fun, but it completely removed the main weakness, surroundability.

One by one:
- Massive regen made absolutely no sense to have on a "support" strider.
- Second shield was silly because it was not transparent that it even had it.
- Free drones were super OP since they were free and deadly.
- Weapons were dropped because it was supposed to be an support unit not an assault one.
- Grav field was ultimately useless.

To be all honest I would like to have it gone. It's just simply bad design by definition of the word and nowdays we actually see striders that are much more interesting to play with and against like Dante, Banthas and Catapults without funnels' stupid shielding.

But hey "the model is pretty cool so we might as well use it". Gotta love the mentality of making units out of models.

I wanted to say more or less the same as Orf did. Who needs 4.5k worth of metal SUPPORT unit, when it supports assaults worth less. If u want to suppott Dante build 10 Welders.
But imo model is quite good. So the unit could be reworked to assault spider strider. We dont have anytging like that. Just give it glavie gun back, with 90degree traversity, and to utilize its shielld generator use it like electricity transformator to fire slow (it would need a sec to charge after it aim before it fires) zeus-like single long reload high dmg zaps (maybe with possibility to arch to other units nearby target unit with lezz dmg?) We dont have anything like this yet.
And remove drones and whield at all ofc.

Just give it back the double shield - even if both are half a strength of the current single (no change in protection), was nice graphically and more early distiguishable when at the edge of visible range. Leave weak drones and give glaive weapon back...

If they have a cost, it could brecome more logical to make it build actual units instead

Maybe we could add an actual RPS at strider level.

Currently we have:
Scorpion: Raider(?) but beats Dante in 1v1.
Dante: Riot
Bantha: Skirmish(?) but beats Dante and Scorpion at close range.
Catapult: Skirmish(?)/Arti but too unreliable for effective skirmishing.
Funnelweb: No role
Detriment: Strider of striders but loses against Bantha (Skirmished)


How about something like this:
ScorpionRaider Loses dgun. Possibly increase DPS or lower cost.
DanteRiot No change
BanthaSkirmish Loses zeus gun. Decrease weight and cost to match other striders.
CatapultArtillery Maybe slightly bigger range or just higher projectile arc (increase time to impact).
FunnelwebAssault High HP/cost. Gets Bantha's Zeus gun or other assault weapon.
Detriment unaffected because entirely different weight class.


Now Dante should counter Bantha up close and counter Scorpion, Scorpion should counter Bantha and Bantha should counter Dante at range (when skirmishing). The all new Funnelweb should counter Dante and be skirmished by Bantha.

As such a change would be way too big to implement in zk directly, I think this might be a perfect use of ZK Experiments.

I would like to see it implemented, because Bantha is the current favorite choice of Strider that is spammed until victory. Do you think such a massive rework is possible and worth doing?

Bantha without zeus guns is just a sturdy penetrator with a free shockley missile.

Suggest new side weapons if you think they fit the role.

Bantha with zeus gun is just pene with leveler sidearm. I would leave the bantha dgun. There's still a big difference between high health and mobility pene and hover pene.
