AUrankAdminAquanim and I played more sea testing games. We played a game, thought it was fairly interesting and decided to make a commented replay. After the game AUrankAdminAquanim ends up talking for a while about his design.

This sea looks fun on its own, not sure how it works with amph + land on some maps with islands.

I watched some select moments and it seems like AUrankAdminAquanim says that the missile frigate is an exception by being an artillery-skirmisher. However, penetrator, spectre, wolverine and firewalker all exist, and provide good precedent for why Mistral needs to have less power than the Owl.

spoilered some irrelevant stuff
[Spoiler]
Mistral having the range and speed properties it does makes it need to be weak in terms of DPS/cost and such, so perhaps this is just semantics. I think a better analogy is to a longer-range Scalpel. In the mirror I'm not sure you want all that many with the present numbers on the unit, but I speculate that you would probably make a lot of them against Hovers.

Its very hard to notice that submarines are actually underwater. The way they are shaded makes it look like they are just another ship.

I imagine that's a problem with current sea as well. There is a problem in that the submarines have to be pretty close to the surface to be able to travel in shallow water, and dynamically changing depth is nontrivial to accomplish (might even be impossible without engine changes, I don't know).

I think that with less than full sea graphics detail (experiment with settings) you can have a much clearer distinction of underwater / surface.
