Why does the Athena build what it builds? It all seems kind of random. There is a trend where it looks like it builds sneaky units and units that do EMP and Slow damage.

What are the upsides and downsides of allowing it to build...

1. every unit?

or

2. every buildable thing?

MYrankAdminHistidine would know. I think he just picked stuff that felt the sneakiest from each fac (hence things like Blitz), added utility units and filled the remaining slots with more cloaking stuff.

Edit: the downside is that there's not enough space in the menu. The other downside is that you reduce the incentive to make a real fac. Yet another is that Athena has very crappy UI for building units.

Assuming Athena is currently building the maximum number of units it can have on its build menu, I think it would be more useful if it could build Snitches instead of Bandits because then an Athena can stage a surprise demolition.

Hm... that would actually make it a sneaky minelaying vehicle since it got a radar jammer and could build snitch mines in radar range.

Dirty secret: the design goal behind the Athena unit selection was creating a "leet krew" that has representation from every fac, and role diversity among the units that make it in.

I think the Mass Effect party character cast wouldn't be a bad analogy, actually.
