Deploying Defence

Is it possible to deploy alot of defence and let like let's say 10 builders build one defence each. they keep running trough the queue wich takes a while, i would rather the 10 builders spread out on different defence towers and start to errect them. that would give me a lot of defence really fast.

Any way this can be done?

i would like the option for a random build queue allso, so that when i place down 40 defence towers. i wwant the ability for my builders to build one each insted of running from one to the other. that just takes a whole lot longer.

If they where to have a command that could toggle, so that when i place 10 defence towers with 10 different builders, every builder would start building one of each insted of running down that slow and crowded queue line.

Lots of lvve, you finaly made a RTS worty of investing real time inn..

I've got half a fix for you here. if you hold down Q while issueing a build comand, the builder will spend like 1 metal on the structure and move on to the next one. This leaves a whole buch of nano frames. Then linedraw a move command to send your units spread between the nano frames and shift queue a area repair command over the entire bunch of nano frames, and every con will start working on the closest nano frame. This also isn't a full fix cause the nanoframe spreading con has to place all the nanoframes first.

your question leads to another question: why would you want 10 half constructed llts instead of like 4 or 5 fully constructed llts?

Thankue, Well i wouldent. I would push another 10 builders to complete the 10 i originaly have placed.

It's more the matter of figuring out the sweet spot.

But that help,s i'll try that =), Allso, if you build those cuntructor buildings. they build em so it's faster to just plop down a bunch with 1% health and let the constructor buildings build em then to build 1 by 1 .. i think, i will have to test it out.

Split construction could be a widget. Alternately, this would be quite easy to achieve manually with a hotkey to deselect a single unit. Now that I think about it this hotkey could be used for many more things. I'll look into creating one.

it takes the same time to complete 2 llts separately that it does to complete 2 doing it 1 at a time

You are missing the time it takes to reach the construction site AUrankSmokeDragon. You could consider Build Power a third resource along Metal and Energy. Any time a commander or constructor is not building something, you are wasting Build Power. Moving constructors and commanders, essentially cost Build Power.

In order to maximize the use of Build Power, you want the constructors to move as little as possible.
Imagine having 10 constructors going around the whole map, building Metal Extractors 1 by 1. Some of the constructors will not even reach the build-site before the Metal Extractor is finished and they have to move on to the next build-site.
Splitting up constructors wastes much less Build Power.

.. 3 cons move llt to llt.. and take 1 min travel time total between con sites.. or split cons and they still take a collective minute worth of travel time no?
