How to make Limpet (amphbomb) useful

I think everyone knows that Limpet is somehow weird to use even though the slow should be really useful.
In my opinion Limpet should have idle cloak like every other bomb unit in the game.

Why?
1. Because consistency reasons, why should there be a crawling bomb which isn't allowed to cloak when every other is allowed to?
2. Limpet is just weird to use because it dies to anything without coming close enough, it might have good speed but especially at the army numbers where Limpet should be useful it just dies to any missile cluster (which is impossible to dodge at some point) or any riot/raider.

What would the cloak change?
1. For sea gameplay it would mean nothing, Limpet still works normal because cloak doesn't work underwater.
2. For land gameplay it would mean some possible ambush/engage potential with some of the way too slow units (Scallop) without the need to launch your units to death with Lobster and make Limpet an actually useful unit.

How to balance this?
- I dont think that Limpet would be OP if it would gain idle cloak as is, but because of its insane speed it should get a real decloak radius e.g. like Flea atm or maybe a tiny bit smaller.

That is my opinion about Limpet, what do you think about it?

It's rarely used because honestly, the kind of units in production as an amph user don't compliment it's utility at all.

yeah when you slow enemy down the units will match speed of amphbots

Units slowed by Limpet can just run away becuase amph is really slow for some reason.

Also, every time I see a "Limpet useless" thread, I see someone say that Limpet is not useless. And I haven't seen a Limpet for months.

it doesn't affect friendly units

- use area cloaker to hide an advancing scallop army and mix in some limpets
- use lobster to throw limpets at the opposing group of units when you're about to engage
- use lobster throw your army including limpets at the opposing group of units when you're about to engage

Above post: All theoretically sound when there's an engagement going on.

Reality is that the enemy is just using their speed to screw amphbots expansion / response up. Meanwhile, the amph player is scallop dropping or spamming grizzlies. No one in their right mind jumps into an amphball for a fight.

I find that in sea play midgame, the amph ball jumps into you. And Limpet becomes a powerful force multiplier.

maybe i should stress 2 parts of my initial post:
- "For sea gameplay it would mean nothing" because i think limpet is ok in sea gameplay
- i never meant that limpet is bad as a unit and in its stats but i posted reasons why there should be a change for land gameplay

Part of why Limpet is seldom used is that Amphbots are seldom used, outside of large teams/FFA (and in that context mostly for Lobster/Scallop shenanigans and/or Grizzly).

When Limpet was first designed I thought that having Limpet behave differently (with respect to cloak/not cloak) in land and water environments was inelegant. I don't feel quite as strongly about the issue as I did then. I agree with the OP that if Limpet gets cloak a large decloak radius is indicated.

It would be very easy to over-buff Limpet I think.

Limpet could behave similarly on land and sea while being able to burrow - if it could float. Bonus points for extending a chain while a floating and looking like an old sea mine.

Already said 6 months ago. Nothing has changed. Everything is OK according to everyone, but no one uses limpet. But it continues to use everything that is cloak, and this seems to me a hypocrisy.

It gets buffed from patch to patch so we find out eventually when is the date of "OMG limpet op".

Speaking from a 1v1 perspective, amphbots don't often make it into the extremespeed raiding meta, which often consists of lots of seperate groups of 2-3 raiders across the map. That's too few fast raiders to be worth limpeting. Archers already decimate groups of fleas and glaives without need for limpet. I can imagine it being more useful against vehicles or slower bots, but even then, amphbots don't feel like a follow-up focused factory.

Fix duck suicide before looking at limpet and you might start seeing a change to the development of amph games. It's atrocious.
