I feel like the constant Scythe monospam in large team games is getting just a bit tiring. Lets have some discussion on counters to help out the new players who are constantly obliterated by them.

Normally I terraform a small pillar with a Faraday on top, although there are normally huge balls of them now and that doesn't really work. Almost every game I see half the coms die to them.

The problem is not scythe spam but arty spam which make scythes so strong. And you dont want even more arty spam in teamgames (which will allways be a clustergame problem).

make lots of outlaws, bury some

make lotus and stinger adjacent to factory, surrounded by solars

morph commander once or twice to get machinegun + extra HP

make the scythes cry

in large team games i find skyths not a problem... someone is usually quick enough to get them before they cause too much havoc, they get spotted more as more units around and they're often just metal feed. if they pull off a com kill, good on em. its small team games they can be real nightmare.

The basics: flea, dart or dirtbag screen around high value targets to increase chance of detection. Have an imp or snitch or two to stun/fry the whole lot (chancy but fun when it works). Place them at chokepoints if there are any, otherwise close to high value targets (and don't worry about damaging your own stuff). Don't leave comms exposed (or upgrade to L3 and get cloak so they can't see them to whack them). Wall/pit valuable eco (even mex for that matter). Essentially, minimise targets of opportunity. Alert team if you see scythes. Air might be able to strafe or napalm them. Nearby raiders might be able to react.

Have the air player help out (it keeps the scythes from recloaking, which tends to be the tipping point for scythe success). If you're an air-player: Help out.

Use walking bombs to punish.

Go jumpy com over alternatives -> ensures you have to mess up really hard to lose com.

Or the tried and true method of building more scythes urself and outscythe them!

Until google gets scythed and they get nerfed :^)

Just do the basics.

t-form valueable targets

get solar and lotus/picklets arround ur base

connect grid to ur teammate and DONT leave gaps even towards map border or leave a rigged chockepoint.
They want to fight ur homeground at/in ur base? Doubleclick solars turn em off (increases durability from 500 to 2.000!) let ur units walk/drag scynthes betwen solars, use com as bait if u have the skill/confidence and let the lotus etc. deal dmg (u want the enemy to have a negative trade)


dont go front with ur com (theres a reason why builders exist and u save a caretaker at ur factory) exept u know what youre doing.

If theres a strong scynthe spam player consider having 1-2 units near ur com in early game and stay within range of suitable defence with valueable units.

If they harass ur units, spread em out a little bit so the scynthes have to weaste some seconds by walking towards the next unit while getting shot by it. (ur goal is again to make sure the enemy to makes negative trades). As soon as the first attack hits react according to it and adjust the positions of the units.

Last thing is dont let them force you to play their game! Main damage of scynthe is mental warfare and guerillia tactics! No expand, no metal, hard time. Action and Reaction!

a single raised Faraday will give your com plenty of time to explode next to your caretakers as you try to run away

2) station these at likely scythe intruding pathes (which you deliberately leave "unguarded")

3) kill them dead.

4) make cost and eat some metal. additionally, you successfully disabled a whole player.

5) ???

6) success.

7) do a victory dance on their corpses

8) be silent and you can hear the enemy cry

9) write something to the chat like "EZPZ" or "easy game, easy life". dont insult or make fun of someones mum.

either have a -dedicated- -on repeat- swift/fleas spammer or resign

recent flea nerfs made scythe more OP for sure

Yeah I started playing air again just to avoid them, giant swift ball is so powerful. (Also felons being able to instagib all air units is a bit bs, kinda makes shield AA a bit pointless for most of the game unless enemy gets gunshits)

The air return AI for rearm is still incredibly stupid and will fly directly over massive balls of AA and die unless you spam right click to tell them to go another way (which doesn't even work half the time).

Its not scythe spam problem. Its low level players who deosnt try even copunter them. Watched pathetic game where one scythe spammer raped two players in his side. 90% of Zk players doesnt have elementar understanding about simple unit counters.
