so i have noticed a lot of people are struggling fighting the BOLAS unit, so here is a quick guide:
bolas are slow gun units with a decent DPS and low HP
bolas are actually very fragile, and quite expensive, so if you can kill a couple you have basically won the engagement.
bolas never travel alone, a lone bolas is a dead bolas (so you know, kill lone bolas if you can?)
bolas does have a great strength, its slow gun, you should
NEVER engage bolas with a lone unit, that unit will be slowed down and die no mater what it is. but if you have 2 or 3 decent DPS units the BOLAS will die very easily to your army
the key to defeating Bolas is to
make sure that they shoot something that you do not mind loosing or can take a beating, early game a commander is excellent as a damage soak while your other units shoot the bolas. later in the game assault units are the best. let the assault unit go first and take the fire from the bolas, then go in with DPS focused units like riots and destroy the bolas while they are shooting at the beefy assaults.
the idea encounter should go like this:
bolas ball comes to attack
Ravager moves forward and takes the Bolas attack
Ripper rush in and kill all the bolas
Job done, bolas dead.
these are units that counter bolas, again to reiterate you should
NEVER engage bolas with a lone unit
use at least 3 or more
lab specific counters :
cloaky:
-Knight
-Phantom
-Imp (trap bolas then kill with other stuff)
shield:
-dirt +bandit (let bolas shoot dirt, use bandit to kill bolas)
-rougue +bandit (in large numbers, recuires that you let rougue shoot at bolas and only use bandits to play keep-away)
-outlaw +thug (as long as you have more than 3 outlaw, lone outlaw will loose
Rover
-fencer
-ripper
hover:
-halberd +bolas or mace
tank:
-anything other than kodachi or con
jump:
-moderator
spider
-venom (2 or more)
-hermit + redback or venom
-crab
air, gunship :
