I just had a great idea. Instead of just encouraging good plays, there should be awards discouraging bad plays.

Some easy to implement awards:

* most value lost
* least efficient unit usage (value lost vs value destroyed)
* least damage dealt
* most metal stored

All it needs is some creative names to shame players more efficiently.

No effect. Some trollers would just go for collecting those awards on purpose(sometimes). No shame. "rofl lol omg i lost most value ROFL while sitting in base collecting metal lolbsters", followed by someone elses lollers, map vote, next game.

More awards would be nice thou.

It may have no effect on chronic trolls that just rush a superweapon or scylla, but it may discourage new players from appearing on the end screen.

Actually, now thinking, sadly I dont much look at after game awards anyway, so more would just be less. I just glance at my own achievements. I could not care less about who or what was fleet admiral or air force whatever. Only awards excluding mine that I resignedly "care" for a second or two is the guy who does nothing all game but gets(=steals) 5 awards; damage and apocalypse and few more in the last moments of game with super weapon.

Maybe if previous battles awards were visible or easily viewed in the battle room somehow...

Or icon hovering over com showing who is this months/weeks best this and that. Maybe that would have effect in game if people see who has been the biggest douche. Maybe not.

Spotter gremlins and owl-s would get a lot of this - although they can be extremely useful. Would need careful per unit consideration.

Might work, although air players gets a disadvantage. With opposing, above average air players, damage will probably be quite small, but if any team does not have an air player can be a fast loss...

Not trolls and also not lobsters who sit in base and build stinger + aegis + storage farm will care about them. If they dont care about rage or tries to teach them in chat then such poor awards will not work on them.
Such awards will be only stressful for players who tried but failed because temmates left them alone in one side or he just got play vs better player or air player just decied to grill him out as weak point while his team air just doing crane rush. Also this awards then will go on 1 vs 1 players because awards is same for all game types.

Ye it will greatly work on support players who focus on economy not front. So nobody will made eco because fear to get such award.

I'd prefer to positively encourage weaker players to learn and get better at the game rather than work out more "efficient" ways to "shame" them negatively, seeing as how I don't get off on bullying other people.

While I agree with you in principle and don't think such an award should be implemented (meaning public and shown), some neutral feedback might help in some cases. Chat and other people might be more easy to "ignore". If the game tells you "you could have done X better" maybe they get it faster. Also, in chat, is hard for players to explain the whole story of why certain things are bad ... A final graph saying "player X build 0 storages but destroyed 10 times more units than you" might get the point better.

Something where competant players could sign up to coach newbies would be awesome! then no one can kick people for "bad play" because they can just coach them!
