- Allowed Commander upgrades yes(+ which)/no
- Allowed Pause (at gamestart?)
- Max/minspeed

As for game speed modification and pausing, could be a TimeWarp category but i don't think we should allow it in the vanilla runs. It is a very different approach

it does take the speed out of speed run :p
-> pause and speed mod = time warp

This is insufficiently precise. How about allowing unlocks from missions that are within a certain distance from the start up to and including the mission in question.

I think pauses and slowdown could be an interesting alternate category. It would essentially be a type of TAS category.

Here is my current attempt at the original category:

I'm missing something, why are different game speeds disallowed when the time of the run is game time? Game time already pauses and speeds up/slows down according to game speed so there's no advantage to it.

for example you could shave a few seconds off the first mission by microing individual glaives by pausing every frame

I had a go at a time warp speedrun. At first I thought I had wasted two of my Glaives in one Lance shot, but then I was quite lucky. I think this will be hard to beat.


@Thomas1 could you upload the saves in a zip so they are easier to download? Also you could name the commanders. I called mine Distance Zero and Distance One since that was how far they were from the planet. Also, to be clear on the rules, I'm assuming the commander should have all modules and XP that corresponds to the planets at the appropriate distance.

I'll keep the ball rolling with mission 2:


Edit: The game is meant to pause automatically at the start of non-scripted missions, and clicking 'Continue' on the mission briefing is supposed to unpause the game. Perhaps my settings broke this or perhaps the functionality broke in general. In any case, I think an automatic pause on game start is fine as it evens the playing field between computers that may chug on initialising the mission.

Oh wow, you shaved 50-ish seconds by having the bottom Lance shoot the commander it was supposed to protect. Brutal.

Also, all the solar, mex, factory, glaive building seems to have been unnecessary, hmm.
