I used to want Starcraft 2

A long time ago, I had been wanted to play Starcraft 2 because I was curious about what can I do with the units, buildings, and maps in the game, especially flying Terran structures, Protoss warp prism, and Zerg burrowing Baneling mines, Infestor's parasite and Nydus Worm, and various planet types (volcanic, ice, city, etc.).

However, after I discovered this game and played it for a while, called Zero-K, I changed my mind, "Why would I want Starcraft 2 when this game gives better units?!". Seriously, even this game has no particular factions, I began to fall in love with this game. This game gave me enough experience to try various unit abilities that I haven't try in other strategy games. I feel this game is like an alternative version of Starcraft 2, like what I use Inkscape as an alternative to CorelDRAW.

Here are the list of features in this game that replaced my wanted experience of using features in Starcraft 2:
  • Nydus Worm --> Djinn, but smaller!
  • Infestor's parasite --> Dominatrix, which captures more units and even structures and chickens!
  • Burrowing Baneling minefield --> Use Snitches instead!
  • Various map terrains in Starcraft 2 --> Same thing in Zero-K but no terrain buildings
  • Void Rays --> Do you mean Lotus, Mace, Locust?

Units that have similar features and experiences:
  • Ultralisk --> Cockatrice
  • Baneling --> Dodo and Snitch
  • Carrier --> Nebula (enemy in campaign only) and Reef (water only)
  • Zealot --> Schyte
  • Marine --> Glaive and Bandit (faster reload)
  • Zergling --> Chicken

Differences:
  • Starcraft 2 has space terrain, which is no wonder the game has no naval units
  • Starcraft 2 has no planes, which most air units fly in the place
  • Zero-K can manipulate terrain!
  • Starcraft 2 invisible units can be revealed with detector, while Zero-K cloaked units must be brought close to the opponent.

I am so thankful to this game, which give me enough experience of what I want in Starcraft 2. And also, this game is open-source, which I perhaps give a contribution to this game one day. Perhaps I can make space units in this game!
Also this game needs more camapign maps.

  • Multiple transport is a thing in Zero-K but still no design

I don't know if I can bump this thread with some updates.

Zero-K gunships can't transport more than one units

The technology exists. The design does not. To implement this I need to solve how to limit them in a way that AUrankAdminGoogleFrog approves of. We've had back and forth conversations about it on and off and I have yet to produce a system sadly. I have everything on the technical side done (eg: it *works*). The idea would be to replace Charon with multitransport with paradrop (eg: you can force drop your units and they won't take fall damage).

Some ideas of limits were thrown around by me:

- reworking current transport system into small, medium, large and superheavy.
- limiting multitransport to x units or y metal value.

I have a few videos of the tech in action but until the capacity problem is solved this just gets shelved.

Same thing if we add new space units, buildings, and terrain, that would be cool!

Don't I've never won a single match in any Blizzard games. I got APM of 10 or less.
