Can we make resign votes unanimous for small team games? I don't play them often but the proportion of games I've been forced to resign when I don't feel its over is way too high, seems to happen especially when its a wide range of skills in the game. Never played other team games where I'm personally forced to give up if an ally does.

Well we were in a very bad position here, I lost my fac and all constructors, and I think that even jpiswar at the very end. I asked for a constructor but nobody gave me one. Yeah, we totally destroyed their base, but they also wrecked our, and they had constructors to reclaim and rebuild. The only factory left (yours) were gunships, but they already had aa... I think it really was over.

Edit - sorry, you had cloakbots, apologies. Anyways, this is a screenshot of the final moment, I really think its gg.

I saw the con request but was too busy at the time (not long before the game ended), I would have given one when things settled down and I had the time capacity.

Us having different reads of the situation of the game is missing my main issue - it doesn't matter who is correct. If you feel it's over that's fine, but I feel I should be able to play on and try to win if I believe I have a worthwhile chance.

For what it's worth, my reading of the game:

I think yellow was about to die with my 1x Zeus/Reaver, 20 glaives and your spider army to the right of him which included a Crab, the wreck field would end up close by to myself with a GS con just to the left waiting. Red had next to nothing, yellow's standing army was bouys which would die to glaives, and Pootis had similar eco to myself, same lab, with a smaller standing army on the mirrored part of the map. I feel there is still a good enough chance of a win still to play on.

Don't forget, this can be a good change, or a very bad one.

Imagine how often you have one player, often lower ranked/inexperienced, who can't read the game at all and thinks that he can still do something with his 1 constructor 2 solar pannels and a mex.

I agree with GBrankPRO_rANDY that the votes should be one or two higher. It would take a lot of work for me to change though because vote thresholds seem to be implemented in a pretty generic system deep in infra. Just changing the resign vote requires more than changing one line, which I prefer not to do without being able to test it.

On players prolonging games, see: http://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/32899

To some extent I think people should be able to play on a game that others on their team think is lost. A player who wants to give up is sort of no different to a spectator that wants the game to end so they can play another. The problem seems to be one of autohosts and room dynamics. If players couldn't hold up a room then playing on would be fine.

Can you not simply leave the game in this case since this transfers unit ownership to the remaining player? You can choose to exit if a resign vote fails (though your fellow players might consider this poor form), but you cannot choose to keep playing if you disagree with a successful resign vote.

Edit: Got ninja'd as always :D (Implementation is fairly straightforward but requires a refactor obviously, which always has potential of creating other bugs elsewhere even with testing, so not sure if it's worth the risk. It probably is if early resign is a problem in large team games too, the development work is easy, only the risk of breakage is a concern.)

Maybe solution would be to implement that if a player votes no, his vote has double the value?

There is an outstanding PR to add one extra vote for all resign votes (this makes unanimous vote required for 3v3 and 4v4, and 5v5 and 6v6 require a much bigger majority now): https://github.com/ZeroK-RTS/Zero-K-Infrastructure/pull/2799

This should be enough for the small team games, resign in larger team games can still be improved further though.
