Why do I want to be in a clan?

  • PlanetWars is geared towards people in clans. If you aren't in a clan, you don't get any planets, or special unlocks.
  • Many PW players who are in clans fight for their clan. They can help you learn the game if you're new, and you can work together ingame to utilize special strategies you can't do alone.
  • The clan members are your partners on the way to conquering the Planet Wars galaxy. Every planet you or your clanmates take, all the money you hoard, all the artifacts you capture lead your clan another step closer to victory.

What is a clan?

  • A clan can be created by any player, who is considered the clan founder.
    • The founder can optionally set a password required to join the clan.
    • The founder can kick other people from the clan
    • The founder is in charge of diplomacy: he can offer and accept treaties with other clans.
    • The founder can give rights to other people - which then gain founder rights.
  • The clan size is limited to 8 experienced players and an unlimited number of rank 1 beginners, to encourage tutoring. If beginners are then promoted, they are allowed to stay in the clan.
    • However, if a clan has less than 3 people, it's possible to leave it at any time.
  • Clans can have a custom icon and description.

Diplomacy and treaties

  • Treaties are always formed between two clans.
  • The treaties are:
    • Alliance - same as ceasefire, with stronger priority placed on being on the same side in battles, and ships can use allied links to attack remote planets.
    • Ceasefire - clan automatically try to fight on the same side. If one of the clans owns the planet.
    • A short notice about Alliance and Ceasefire:
      • "33% of other clan's newly gained Influence is automatically donated to planet owner" - it got changed.
      • If you are allied or in ceasefire with another clan, PlanetWars check if one of you own this planet after a battle, and if it is true, the owner clan get your Influence.
        • But only if the given Influence does not exceed 150% of the received influence.
          • This limit doesn't seem to work if you didn't got any influence till this moment.
    • War - A clan can declare war with another clan, which prevents from fighting on same side.
  • Optional treaties are:
    • Research Treaty - clans share all unlocked technologies with selected other clans.
      • Clans in the same Faction should share technologies like allies. ( This is a subject of the last changes )

Share Technologies

  • If you share technologies with other clans they can take advantage of additional units ingame, if they don't have those particular personal unlocks.
  • It also affects how many Influence Points (IP) they get after battles on PW hosts - more information about this is on the manual page about influence .
