Is our win based rank (Nebulous, Brown Dwarf [...] Neutron Star, Singularity) able to fall? If we lose games, could we drop? I think it is a creative twist on the divisions in League (Ex. bronze, siler, gold, plat, etc) in that it's not generic ranks but fits Zero-K's space theme

Yes. You start at rank zero (Nebula) though, which means at the beginning you're most likely to only rank up. Later on, it's common to stay around one rank for longer periods of time and occasionally lose or gain a rank depending on how you are doing.

Here's a list of the ranks:
Icon Color Theme Percentile
Gamma ray Singularity Top 1%
X ray Neutron star Top 5%
Blue white Supergiant Top 10%
Bright yellow Giant Top 20%
Orange Subgiant Top 40%
Red Red dwarf Top 60%
Dark red Brown dwarf Top 80%
Infrared Nebula Everyone

The ranks are backed by a system called Whole History Rating, which estimates your skill based on whom you beat/were beaten by. It's a further development of well known systems such as Elo, Glicko or TrueSkill.
