There was still a game there until the phantoms arrived, then it felt hopeless.

I have no idea how to counter phantoms with any factory, if I'm facing cloakbot and it's reached the stage where phantoms exist I have no idea what to do.

Is there any counter to properly microd phantoms?

The biggest problem is how deceptively fast they are at 42 elmo/s (Cyclops is 57 for comparison), a Bouy will basically never catch them while an Archer takes over 1300 elmo to enter decloak radius (good luck with that!). A large duck spread can find them only if there are no Reavers to melt them.

there is no counter-play against protected phantoms. The maximum you can do is switch to cheap artillery, such as slings or badges, or, if you can hide, then firewalkers.

Depending on which factory I started with, there's at least 3 phantom counters in my repertoire. One is a guaranteed success, the other two are hopeful at best. They do exist.
