dyth68 2 years ago (edited 2 years ago) I don't really get why I keep gaining ELO :/ I'm very rarely the most effective player on a team. In this case I managed to lose a 3v2 and only got saved by some capable northern players. [Spoiler] Looking at the replay, in this case it seems the difference is that GOLDSTANDARD and KrTekkCZ have very different real ELO, despite being similar on paper. The latter's real ELO probably being around 500 in that them in that game plus Sigero would be a fair fight for a couple of fiendicus_prime . I wonder if maybe newcomers should enter with 1000 elo rather than 1500? +1 / -0

The problem I see is that you want a new player to win their first game, or at least one of their first two. Which increases their ELO! I don't know enough about the system, but could you balance them at an ELO deficit and then hammer their ELO disproportionately hard when they do lose to get them in line? [Spoiler] West north did really well, not least because the two back row players for east north were far too passive. Meanwhile in the south west would have been steamrolled in 5 mins without dyth68 (and GOLDSTANDARD) putting up some sort of fight - goodness knows nothing I built did anything other than die to Lance / Phantom - so I think you pulled your weight. +0 / -0

The problem I see is that you want a new player to win their first game, or at least one of their first two. Which increases their ELO! I don't know enough about the system, but could you balance them at an ELO deficit and then hammer their ELO disproportionately hard when they do lose to get them in line?
