How to annoy others with Cerb

Hi.

We have very nice games these days. I wanted to share one we played last night where somebody called some unit the "most annoying Cerb ever".

I built that cerb after losing a too advanced com (without real escort). And the Cerb alone made more damage than most players.

It was built after a while by East side on the South cliff near the South lake. I totally forgot nukes were a thing in this game (that was how I lost it), but weirdly the enemy forgot it too for half an hour. Then the cerb did its thing.

For big gun lovers. I, for me, was ecstatic.

West still won, because we apparently resigned (band of bunnies !).

Cerberus is an excellent unit and becomes very hard to deal with if it is protected with a Funnelweb.

That said you need to support it and air needs to look out for silo because silo can often deal with cerberus easily.

cerb is one of the units, which instantly requests the enemy for silo. silo will make cost almost ensured. plus, you got a silo and there are probably more saucy targets in a game where a cerberus was allowed to be plopped. (artemis,...)

There are a number of counters to cerberus:
- silo of course
- jack drop, sometimes. even if it's terraformed too high you can almost always take out the pylon and everything else surrounding it
- impalers + terraform wall, the enemy can set high trajectory but they won't have radar
- burrowed tremor, simply a tremor dug into the ground. the cerberus is unlikely to hit with high or low trajectory
- tanks and cyclops can get to a cerberus pretty much unscathed
- 2 likhos or a handful of bombers is enough to kill it. You can place your shields such that it can stop a raven bomb but you need to be precise
- Merlin. Cerberus slightly outranges merlin, but if aided with a shield of some sort, or even just well micro'd, it will kill a cerberus

I don't recommend immediately going to silo unless you have multiple silo targets or the enemy has a considerable amount of porc.

Actually, the silo was :

* On top of the hill (near the geo patch)
* On top a little pylon
* Covered by heavy AA
* And three shield
* Protected by two crab on front of it (on the cliff flank, if memory serve)
* beyong a line of patrolling spiders of all types.

Add that a very cool game with heavy fighting everywhere, meaning they couldn't, maybee, divert too much against it.

Actually, we just forgot antinuke.

- silo of course

They tried that, but apparently the height gave too much range to the Cerberus. They didn't think to put the silo high enough, maybe.

- jack drop, sometimes. even if it's terraformed too high you can almost always take out the pylon and everything else surrounding it

Heavy AA (including spiders) stopped the few air attempts. For some reason, they didn't use a lot of Air this game, or maybe that was because the heavy fights all around.

- impalers + terraform wall, the enemy can set high trajectory but they won't have radar

They tried imps, but the Cerb countered before they could hit it through the three shields.

- burrowed tremor, simply a tremor dug into the ground. the cerberus is unlikely to hit with high or low trajectory

I would never have though of that (plus a suffer from keybinding hell : I can't build walls, for example). But I fear the High position from where the cerb fired would had needed some cloaking protection in a really disputed zone.

- tanks and cyclops can get to a cerberus pretty much unscathed

Well, some idiot told Blankmind Scorps are tanks with legs, sorta. Then we had to suffer from one, then two, then an army of scorps escorted by a Dante or two. Guys, you should all learn to shut up. Hellish vision.
They didn't succed after a lot of trying. They never succeded to go trough the barrage of various spiders in patrol defence, allies and the two crabs.

- 2 likhos or a handful of bombers is enough to kill it. You can place your shields such that it can stop a raven bomb but you need to be precise
They tried that, but the Cerb was on top of a little pylon, itself on top of the cliff. It's difficult for bombers because they fly lower than that and have to climb at point blanck range of not only the AA, but all the defensives spiders.

- Merlin. Cerberus slightly outranges merlin, but if aided with a shield of some sort, or even just well micro'd, it will kill a cerberus

They didn't try that.

Yeah used properly (and defended well) cerbs are great.

Well balanced unit too as weak to the silos, but still defendable against.
