Please analyze this replay. What lost me the game? It appears to have been my glaive suicides but I am not sure.

Casted on YouTube.

A bunch of LLTs in the north east would have won me the game combined with the phoenixes. I could have torched the rockos without pressure from glaives and then build a ton of my own glaives to capitalize on the lack of opposition in the west of the map. Thanks for analyzing that Shadowfury.

I watched this replay previously and noticed that I lost far too many Rockos while they were idle on the left. It was quite a problem. Also I had 2 fps for the first several seconds but did not mention it.

CArankAdminShadowfury333 I think the commentary could be improved. There are mistakes on both sides and the 'roles' of the players switch a few times between the Rocko player and the Glaive player. I played this replay and watched it afterwards. GBrankTheSponge wants analysis and there is a cast to compare to so I am going to have a go.

0:10
The first thing to notice is that I have stuffed up and are now several seconds behind TheSponge. The second thing to notice is that we are both Cloakybots.

0:25
Our strategies diverge from the very start early on. TheSponge has morphed an Ecell which saves him walking time and means that he can build 5 mexes before he needs to build energy. To capitalize on this he should make those mexes asap so must be going for a land grab style. This is reinforced by 1 Glaive then Rector.

I appear to be making 2 Glaives with no commander morph so are doing something a bit more normal.

1:00
I have killed a scouting Glaive at this point but that is not too important. I have built a Defender so my base would be safe.

Our economies and constructor placement are good to look at now. GBrankTheSponge has some strong double expansion and has his economy fairly well balanced. I currently have about 250 metal in storage but can spend it rapidly at my base.

1:30
Both GBrankTheSponge and I have 3 mexes so GBrankTheSponge has not yet benefited from his Ecell. The shape of our expansion indicates that I will go left with my Commander into a single defensive Rector expansion. We have the same number of Glaives but I have switched to Rocko production which could mean I am going for quite an aggressive commpush style. GBrankTheSponge is continuing Glaives so is probably looking to raid while expanding behind. He is currently constructing a Rector which could be used to switch production from frontline turrets/expansion to units.

1:50
GBrankTheSponge dives a raid down the middle with no radar coverage. It looks like I have enough to defend it as I have started morphing my commander. He retreats. I have a Rector at base as well as an expanding Rector which could encounter GBrankTheSponge's comm. The game is fairly symmetrical except that I have Rockos and a more agressive Commander position while GBrankTheSponge has better economy.

2:50
GBrankTheSponge notices the Rockos coming in on the left so concerntrates his Glaives there and builds Defenders at his expansion to try to repel them. His commander is economically expanding on the top right as he has guessed that all my forces are invested to the left. I defend my right expansion because I am less mobile.

3:40
GBrankTheSponge has just about finished expanding in the top right so has the economic advantage. He also uses his mobility to raid past the Rockos. There are now enough Rockos on the left to kill his turrets and expansion if they are not reinforced.

4:10
The raid goes ahead and destroys a mex for the price of a few Glaives. I create a few Glaives to respond to the thread while GBrankTheSponge creates a few Rockos to respond to me. I have more army value than GBrankTheSponge at this point but my lack of expansion in the bottom right means that he has much better income. I have the reclaim which will even up this difference a little.

5:00
GBrankTheSponge seems to want to kill my army on the left with head on Glaive assaults and Rockos. Looking at the game from here he probably wants to Defend and prevent me from consolidating my territory while I want to either win outright or consolidate my territory. GBrankTheSponge has his commander idle for a while and mine takes some damage that it does not need to.

5:30
My Rocko s are idle for a while and some die needlessly. GBrankTheSponge constructs a Tick to try to stun my Rockos while keeping them at bay with a few Rockos of his own. He raids but finds no expansion.

5:50
The Tick is not particularly effective. I start rallying Rockos to the right to try to deal with that expansion. It is not clear whether I am aware that the commander is there.

6:10
My Rocko on the left stand idle and die again. This is really quite bad. GBrankTheSponge gains the upper hand on this side. He also starts moving his commander in and raids with his main raiding force. I have had the time to build some Glaives to respond and his raid is not effective. I have still not expanded and are now quite behind on army.

6:50
GBrankTheSponge's Commander is scared away on the right. His Rocko push on the left is effective so I move my Rockos over to that side of the map. We have the same number of Rockos but mine are all over the place. Throughout the game my Commander has been quite active in the push while GBrankTheSponge's has been a passive expander.

7:10
GBrankTheSponge is the Rocko player for the time being so I take advantage of this by using my Glaives to try to clear the top expansion. There are Rockos in my raiding force which can probably deal with the turrets and commander. I am finally expanding to the bottom left. GBrankTheSponge is excessing metal, has an idle constructor at base and is building a Caretaker to deal with this.

7:40
My raiding force encounters the Commander. Instead of chasing it my Rockos go off to kill all of the expansion. It is hard to spot but I have placed a Tick to try and intercept the Commander and kill it with the Glaives.

8:10
My Tick stuns the Commander but my waiting Glaives are stunned by another Tick. The commander only just makes it out alive. I have been expanding and now have the economic advantage. Rocko counts on the left are about equal but I have a Commander for repairs. There are too sparse to really damage each other.

8:40
I try to group my Rockos which are spread around the map into a deathball. I am not sure what GBrankTheSponge is doing. He has some reclaim on his side of the map and could try to expand. He seems to want to mass Glaives.

GBrankTheSponge has less army now. If you have the attrition counter active it can be seen that I have lost 1500 metal less in army by this point.

9:00
My Rockos come in and GBrankTheSponge fights a losing Rocko battle. I have 50% more Rocko and a Commander for repairs.

9:30
GBrankTheSponge has lost his Rocko army while mine has grown. He is planning rapid re-expansion behind Glaive pressure and is raiding to take advantage of my much slower army. I have failed to fully expand in the bottom left. Given that I position my Rockos well I really doubt that he has enough Glaives to do any damage to my army, especially with my Commander there. I make some Glaives and Tick to defend my base.

10:10
GBrankTheSponge ignores my base with his large Glaive army in favour of my Rocko army. This is really quite big because I was not ready to defend. Also he has idle Rectors which could be reclaiming.

10:20
I move my Rockos into a position which defends my expansion and makes my Rockos able to take on Glaives.

10:40
GBrankTheSponge pokes at my Rockos but decides better of it so he assaults my base. By the time he gets there I have prepared so have the Glaives and Ticks to defend. he is re-expanding behind this pressure rather well and has regained the economic lead. GBrankTheSponge knows that he has to deal with my Rockos if the base raid fails so starts constructing an Aircraft plant at high speed. It is very likely that he will make Phoenix.

11:00
I defend my base but fail a bit with the Ticks and lose more than I should have. I am also attacking with Rockos and do not have radar on the re-expansion.

11:30
GBrankTheSponge sends Rockos to buy some time for his Pheonix. I should really ram my army into his but instead set the Rockos to skirmish. I send my spare Glaives North to see what is going on.

12:20
I see the Phoenix so start a Plane factory to counter with Avenger if the game goes that long.

13:00
I decide to send Glaives into his base to tie up the Phoenix.
