I think inability to apply early pressure is indeed a problem for Tank. With perfect (and I mean *perfect*) play you can harass with Kodachi but a single misstep and the Scorchers eat you. Panther is kind of expensive, and kind of meh in terms of strength.

Also, unlike Scorcher, Glaive and Bandit (to name a few), Kodachi and Panther scale really terribly into the mid-game. (Yes, I know the aforementioned raiders start losing out to AoE and porc, but they retain utility for a lot longer than Kodachi with its terrible DPS and Panthers which stun each other on death.)

At the same time, considering much Godde excessed early on (and was floating a lot of metal in reserve for a very long time), this game could have been less one-sided I feel.

if you enemy plays just as good your kodachi can do nothing but drive around a bit here and there and force enemy to keep 1 scorcher on reserve. which isnt a problem for him because scorchers are cheaper, so he will be very happy to keep your 180 metal busy with his 130.

koda actually kinda scale into midgame because if you got 2, you can oneshot a scorcher. combined with the ae the kodas will do better in larger engangements vs scorchers. also they can later be used to harass ravagers while they are fighting with reapers and so deal some burn damage to a whole group. the early game is where they have most problems in the matchup.

I agree with this but I think it is partly because most of the units Tank builds in the earlygame become dead weight later, and so one is disincentivised to build them.

Firstly, I one game isn't conclusive. But if you look at the game I don't think SErank[Er0]Godde was on form. His commander was idle from 1:32 to 2:02 when it should have been walking or preventing the energy stall which occurred 30 seconds later. His factory was idle for a while (not sure when/if this was intentional). He raided the wrong location, if he had not he would have got a mex kill early or at least disrupted the Commander.

Regardless, Panther did reasonably well. It's power lies in killing two Scorchers without taking any losses.

i suspect we havent seen more games of this kind because either of the two would rather avoid playing the matchup as the tank player very often.

also look at the other games godde played in the matchup produced similar results.

I were a little sloppy in this game. Well I am usually pretty sloppy but my micro, game awareness and tactical manouvers can usually pull me back into the game. However Drone has a very safe expansionist style that is hard to punish.

I would like to play more games against Drone but I don't want lose too much elo. If Drone would be willing to switch sides or if we play without elo I'd be ready to play more games.
