I like to say that Hermit is secretly just a solid unit. That said, I think this game was more down to SErankGodde near-naked expanding because he was expecting Fencer rather than Scorcher.

The 4 constructors Randy lost to flea invasion was probably snowbally enough to be a loss on it's own. But critically, if you're going to be rovers on this map there's a real indication that your raiding will be very predictable and less possible, and SErankGodde can really exploit that with his greedy expansion style. Even if Randy had some early success, a Crab would be an extreme complication to overcome.

Hard to contain a factory that is all terrain and can exploit that to attack you from angles that you can't address. Redback, hermit, recluse, crab all have ingredients that wreck rovers units. I like rover ravaged as a theory but I think it's more of a novelty idea than a viable meta.

It's higher tier than ravager and halberd where combat prowess is concerned. Nowhere near on par with knight or thug however. Guess that puts it squarely in the mid tier?

I did notice that it's AI on attack move is to try to run away and kite opponents, a stark difference to some of the other units in it's class. That means it's probably better not to attack move with it if you're going into combat with fencers, or it'll make their retreat much easier once the hermit is at full distance back.

hermit is used as fight-move unit. It is a assault-skirm-hybrid. Note that it`s projectile-velocity is quite high for a plasma-cannon. I do not think you can compare hermit, ravager and halbert. All three have different cost, come from different factories and are designed to do different things. ravager has never been a brute-force-frontal assault unit. they are (in my universe) absolute god-tier on big open maps like inculta, as long as density is not too high. Hermits are cheap, expendable damage-sponges for a factory that almost exclusively consists of paper.
Ravagers just suffer from noone playing 1v1 on Inculta, CCR or similar maps anymore.
