I like the new layout. It's a modified version of one of the chili skins, right? Could it be used in ZKL?

It may be a little improvement, but white font on black background is eye-unfriendly-

It is an un-modified version of one of the elements of one of the chili skins.

It is not a layout, it is just a border-image.

It is not possible to use this in ZKL unless you reimplement quite a lot of winforms classes to render borderimages.

(which is why i have had for a long time an opinion that best way for Steam would be throwing away ZKL and replacing it with a customised SWL)

If anyone does this, they get my respect.

This is psychological.

And yeah i'll see about making forums less contrasty. The homepage elements seem more forgiving.

I don't think it looks quite right in some particulars (for instance the bars up the top look a little clunky) but with a little refinement it could be a good look.

Forum might be slightly faster due to swap to entity framework which revealed some bugs.

Forum seems 200% faster.

There is no enough blank space between the borders and the text up the top, which looks really bad with rounded corners.

Also, we don't just have to use rounded corners, we can do better, I'll be back home in a day or so and try to adapt some stuff from my brothers re design.

There is already a square version.

Why all the hate for the rounded/clipped corners? I've always quite liked the clipped corners, as I find it makes it easier to tell where an element's bounds are.

Clipped ones seem more aesthetically pleasing to me. Maybe i'll use squared ones for things where there is less free space, such as text inputs.

There's a PR for making forums less eye-grasering with blackwhite contrast and fixing some things Aquanim complained about, let's see how that works out.

Right, I was viewing this on my phone which has weird ugly teal boxes? Somehow everything broke mobile version of the site?

Either way, this actually looks not bad. It's a shame not to be using my brothers graphics but we can work on that.

EDIT : Nevermind, see my second post below :
This is a downgrade IMHO. Instead of relatively taste-neutral black, we now have some somewhat "unhealthy/disease-looking" gray and gray-blue-green...

There is no mobile version and never was.

The version that shows up on mobile is the mobile version site and it does not have the teal-edged graphics.

There is no mobile version site. There is no mobile site version. There is no separate stylesheet for the mobile browser. You cannot define it as version if it's the same code.

There is a mobile browser that doesn't understand border-images, in particular older Androids do this.

Yes, it could fail more gracefully. I'll look into that.

I'll have to take this back. The issue is with my browser - I'm stuck on the old Opera which has basically been abandoned at version 12 (last significant features added in June 2012), and scores only 61% of HTML5 functionality, almost as bad as the latest Internet Explorer 11 and Safari 8.0!.

So, here's what I see when I visit Zero-K forums :

Looks like I'll have to ditch Opera 12 soon... But it will be a pain to find replacements to many of its features... (P.S.:) the new Opera is still lacking features I often use like Tab Groups and Notes...
