Could it be possible to queue maps so that players can download the map and we don't have to wait?

For example.

Springiee !next map vote Archer vallay 5 YES 2 NO

If No is greater then yes then it gets declined and another map can be voted.

What you think?

What @[ffc]killer said:
You have 100 people in queue room. One person does !next map Archer_Valley and after 1 minute you get 40 NO 50 YES and then after 20s (because one of the 40 people didn't want Archer Valley) there is another !next map vote and thus it loops until everybody has enough of Zero-K the democracy simulator.

This just doesn't work...

Reasonably short wait times can simply be politely waited for. People with longer wait times can be force specced.

The Steam release is supposed to contain a pack of the featured maps so that everyone would have the map. A decent matchmaker would then get rid of !map altogether and just give people a random featured map to play on so the issue is only relevant for the room culture.

I personally think this is a better way because frankly it gets annoying having someone every second doing !Map. Sometimes we have like 10 map votes before the game starts because someone keeps doing !map so we end up having to spam !start to get the game going.

Plus you don't need say 11/11 votes to change the map. This is decided by majority decision at the time so it stops endless map voting because 1. someone keeps voting map 2. not enough votes and lastly it allows people to download the map before the match starts.

!nextmap preventing !votemap is a terrible way to stop !votemap spam for myriad reasons, mostly because the player count and roster can change meanwhile and because it (partially) fixes the symptoms of !votemap being bad instead of fixing !votemap itself.

If someone spams !votemap maliciously then report them. Any vote can be used for that so preventing !votemap won't help.

As said before, the endless !votemap spam is a result of the democratic room culture. I believe forcing people to use a random featured map would prevent that but would need all featured maps to be downloaded and the featured map pool to exist (as opposed to supported map pool).
