"Bilhamil" has posted another video featuring his ongoing research:

Controls look much more advanced now and allow you to do basically all normal things :)

Interesting. I guess such interface can be used on all sorta *pads and if I m correct they already recognize multiple fingers at least somewhere I saw such painting. Only problem screen size would really matter :)

I used to play, haven't for a while, would like to start again. I'm currently equipped with a Surface Pro 3 and no mouse or pen. Trying to avoid using those for ideological reasons (travelling the world with a small rucksack).

Anyone know how to get multitouch working with Zero K? I feel like I could adapt to playing using this interface fairly happily.

Vaguely related question: I fired up the game at native resolution of 2160 x 1440 and it didn't seem 100% happy, especially on loading and commander selection screens. Is this res just too high?

Thanks!

Edit with further details: I have a "type cover", which is a keyboard and trackpad, just no mouse. The main problem is that I couldn't work out how to execute right-click commands (except with trackpad, but I want to do it by touching the screen).

I also couldn't figure out how to zoom in/out; multitouch pinch zoom didn't work by default and I'm not sure whether I can zoom using the keyboard.

you will probably want to check this too:

Common methods of translating RMB to touch is tapping with two or three fingers, or tapping multiple times in quick succession. That said, i haven't gotten to play with microsoft touch things yet.

Could you send a screenshot of the default UI with 2160 x 1440? I would like to see if it works.

Some pics below at 2160 x 1440 (at least, that's what I entered in lobby settings).

This time, everything except the loading screen worked.

I played for a while but being unable to zoom and having to input commands via trackpad isn't great. Everything in the UI seems fine, apart from not being fully touch compatible in default state. Guess I need to pick up a mouse.

If multi-touch pinch zoom worked, I think playing via a stylus would also be viable. Then, if there was some good way of managing left/right click commands on touchscreen, it would be playable with fingers only (touchscreen + keyboard).

I've been playing at 2560x1440 for a month or two without any issues now. On a normal laptop(nvidia, win7) though.

Edit: i just looked at the screenshot, and this looks like it's quarter resolution and upscaled or sth. Doesn't look anything like what I'm used to.Maybe the resolution is not set correctly? Make sure to check the infolog.

Here's a screenshot for comparison:

Ah, yes that looks quite different. I'll take a look at that. I only have the base i3 model so it might not handle it on max res anyway. Either way, it's playable apart from the input problem, which is what I really need to solve.

Is there any possibility of getting touchscreen + keyboard input (pinch zoom and right-click) working with Zero-K?

I've noticed that on some touch products windows has a default scaling setting of 150% or something - and for some reason zerok takes this scaled resolution as the actual resolution. Try messing with that setting and see if anything changes.

Its under "customize your display" settings under display in windows(9+1).

Thanks for the help. I now have it working better. I found the zoom commands on the keyboard and I'm getting used to the input options I have available.

I couldn't live without 150% scaling and I don't need to play max res anyway, so I set it to 'medium' graphics option in the lobby.

I've just played twice 1v1 against the AI and both times it worked fine for about 5-10 minutes until it suddenly came up with "runtime error: this application asked runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" or something similar, and crashed. Any ideas how to make it work?

I'm running Windows 10 on Surface Pro 3.

Is there anything indicating the cause of crash in your infolog?

After searching the forum for a while I found a similar problem that was solved by installing Spring lobby then reinstalling Zero-K lobby. I also turned the graphics quality down to 'low'. One of those two changes seems to have fixed it.

Windows 10 has long since been known to cause problems with Zero-K for some reason. Maybe try running in compatibility mode?

It was discussed a lot in the chat back when win 10 was released, might wanna look there.

also: http://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/20492

it would be cool to implement a touchscreen control mode so the game doesn't fry itself.
