I think it would be a good idea to have an auto-host for experienced players only: elo 1600+ and rank >=3 maybe. Why ? I see many of the good players are reluctant to play regular TEAMS games, many wait for good players to join.

I know many times good players spec. Also may reduce the overly large games we tend to get.

If we do that I think it'll need some statistic stuff. We first need to find out the median of all active player's elo. That is: Get a list with active players (let's say within 2 months), sort them by elo, get median player, get that player's elo. If we simply take a random number we like, chances are high we wont get enough players who are able to join the room. Keep in mind that the median has nothing to do with the average elo that is 1500 (at least when ignoring reliability and taking inactives into account).

I am tell you right now 1600 is inter 1850 - 1900 is pro. It seems to be very stable through time. To get 1600 you must win a few games.

On a related topic, maybe the TEAMS server shouldn't affect elo? My elo is now under 1500 (yes, I suck) because only the TEAMS server is in use in the time slots I've been able to play lately.

Juggler. That is all. Also elo is required to balance team games and fairly reliable over several games, there is no reason not to use it on team hosts.

The point is that the TEAMS server distorts elo as the outcome is so random. My elo just hit 1488 after perhaps the worst balanced game I've ever seen. Do you honestly think I'm a below median player?

Yeah. But.. I wonder, how do you know the median? Did you hijaxx zeh s0rvarz?

Dogma team games are balanced quite well. Of course there happens some shit sometimes when everything just fails but thats a rarity.

Players like Godde also got most of their elo from team games.. go figure.. Team games only make it work slowly than 1v1 but it does work over lots of games.

Balanced is one thing but what about skill. Even with a team of newbes I seems to often win but its not alot of fun. Many games are just me attacking and killing 2 or 3 random newbes. kind of boring.

*Cuddles Saktoth.* When you say juggler you mean rooms split by elo, don't you?

That, among many other things (including splitting into smaller team games by preference) is one of the things juggler does.

I think Juggler is only good for 1v1 games. IMO Juggler has been horrible for team games. Perhaps zk now have big enough player base for having skill based auto hosts. But it could be tricky to get elo working after that, i.e. experienced players losing elo in high skilled games might have to play a few newbie games before being allowed again in high skilled games. Perhaps the elo system can be improved a bit to handle this.

It splits games up. By elo. That is what we need. If you have a better system, you'd better propose it because Juggler is where it is at. There will be a nice diffuse boundry between noob and high elo games, with everyone playing together during inactive times and people near the threshold consistently playing in either category depending on how many noobs/experienced players there are, that there will be plenty of elo moving up towards the top of the elo scale. At the current player rates we can easily support 3 4v4's some of the time, even.

The most important point about what Sak just said is the fact that multiple 4v4+ rooms will increase the number of players joining games. Chances are higher that there is a battle not currently in progress and that's usually very inviting. More players joining the different rooms will mean EVEN more games running at once (four or more 6v6s!), which means players have more selection when it comes to maps, etc. Oh and shorter waiting times.

when you gonna enable juggler leave enough options for people to choose from. If I remember correctly large team games was 5x5 which isint so large. Large should be 7x7 - 10x10 at least those are my favorites :) I m not following development but even springlobby now has official !join support if i m right so that will be soon I guess, maybe there is needed separate discussion or poll which options people want to see.

It does not have !join support... it has support for FORCEJOIN which is not supported by lobby server - so there is still no way for SL.....

Well if we do not have a pro only server maybe we should have a newbie only server. I don't see juggler coming back anytime soon.
