The scalpel is the hover skirmisher, right?

It's also the slowest hover! slower than even the penetrator (which is, by the way, racecar fast), slower than pretty much everything it wants to skirmish on land and practically stationary compared to boats.

I use hovers alot, a lab with 2 effective combat units, and I am heartily sick of this unit being shit. Is there any possibility it being reworked into something useful?

We've been steadily buffing it, and it seems to get some use now. Hover is already a pretty powerful factory, I'd say if it got any better than it is, Mace and Pene would have to lose some power.

I think Pene just needs to be more expensive. NOT less powerful. (buff strengths, nerf weaknesses kinda fits there, if you consider cost a weakness, which I do!)

Mace is owned by vehicles and ships if players are equally skilled. Scalpel seems pretty useful since its buff. It fails at skirmishing, I agree on that Ivory, but the big initial burst damage makes up for it if you aint heavily outnumbered. I always try to use it like a BD.

making the mace & pene less awesome would probably be a good idea. its certainly not a reason to make the other hovers poo

Scalpel can't be that bad because stats-wise it is just the CA janus but with floating, and the janus was slightly OP.

That has been our logic this whole time but we sort of had to admit that the rest of the game has probably changed enough around the Janus.

Jasper, it's not a massive nerf if the laser was SUPPOSED to be that way.

That would be called a fix.

Honestly, I use the Scalpel as an anti-heavy. It's a damn joke as a Skirmisher.

Pene is still very powerful for 1000m, its not exactly a problem.

The scalpel is not suited to anti-heavy, 660 damage is trivial in ZK (where the likely opponent is NOT a 500hp flashtank)and then it lacks the speed to escape.

how about making it cheaper? 220m -> 210m.
or faster, and nerf its dam back to 600. Then it could function in the sea game.
or up its range so it can skirmish.

^ this. It fits in with the hover naming scheme and even descibes what it does with some accuracy.

Since the pene is faster and better ranged, it takes both the skirmisher and anti-heavy roles for the hovers. It is basically the scalpel +, better in every way other than cost and RoF. I think the scalpel needs a bit of a role change.

Agree, Penetrator without the ability to penetrate is decharacterized, Lance now would be a better name, IMO change it.

What are you talking? It fucking penetrates almost any lvl 3 commander.
