It entirely depends on what your enemy has.

3500m in artillery is excellent against a wall of defensive structures.
3500m in artillery is (generally) awful if your enemy has only raiders.

If you're playing a big teams game, there are some simple "allround combos".
First one is always for early game, second one for later. You can build them on repeat if you're not sure what to use.

Flat terrain [Spoiler]

When using these units for the first time, command them with fight-move(Press f and then click where you want them to attack). This should make them behave smartly and show you how they function.

Try to adapt these combos as you see what units perform best in the current situation.

eco is always trump.

Generally coins work different than in real life and cost is judged different.
In real life you might think "I have XY money on bank account so my next acquisition should cost max so-and-son."
In the videogame zero-K coins come in and coins go, in constant stream. You can always buy everything, now matter how much coins in bank. Like deferred payment. (Ratenzahlung)
Ideally you never have 3500 coins saved in storage but instead are spending coins as fast as they come in. To judge cost look at the displayed estimated buildtime.

3500 buys handful main-spam-units of each factory.
For example 14x

3500 worth of random mixed shields makes a ball-army that keeps recharging each other.

3500 buys 1 large mech thing. (popular choice)
(strider hub sold seperately)

3500 buys various flying stuff to surprise-one-shot-skill many things like Commanders, striders, big buildings,...

What about a sumo and a handful of halberds and a few cons?

Encounter porc? Just jump it with halberds flying off a small ramp cuz of sumo. Wow. So troll.

Alternative solution:
14 SCYTHES. Let lose a permanent scar of hatred upon the minds of your enemies with the cloaky's scythe unit. Featuring optical cloaking, high damage melee weapon, autorepair that engages out of combat, and radar dampening. Great for inflicting anger-induced injuries upon your enemies*. 250m/ea. Batteries not included.
