Explain why it is reasonable to have a unit that costs 1.5k more than behemoth but can move, has 3 guns instead of 1 and has 12000 hp instead of 3750.

Its OK if it's only in the sea, but on land its just down right broken.

It actually makes the catapult seem really bad!

You are talking about warlord not crusader.

Actually, I think it is called a Shogun now; http://zero-k.info/mediawiki/index.php?title=Shogun

With the advent of Lobster I don't know that this is OK any more, if it ever was. I have heard rumors; provide replays and I'll have a think about them.

Uh... why would it ever be on land? It's a naval strider, not sure what you're trying to say. Why is it "now" OP if it never was a land unit, which your post seems to imply by saying "It's not a land unit, now it's OP".

Lobster makes Shogun kind of a land unit (and hence not vulnerable to subs/amph, and able to be parked on hills).

- it can be built on land if people terraform to lower terrain and create water areas
- it can be thrown around on land by the lobster
- on mixed maps it interacts with land units near the shore or amphibious bots and hovercraft

At the current price shogun would be cost-effective even if it were an immobile turret.

surface vs surface ships are too strong/cost at the moment.

Usually in RTS games naval units are more effective for their cost to offset the fact that their movement is extremely restricted. I rarely see naval games that progress to Shogun though, and besides-- you need to win naval (kill all subs) and air before you can make sure it wont get killed.

As for putting it on land with lobsters, I actually really like that you can do that. Zero-K and its unique physics are a big draw of the game for me. Perhaps give the old Archer ammo system to the Shogun (maybe it needs water to vent the heat from its guns, and if it doesn't the fire rate goes way down) and see what that does?

Shogun always was OP. A really long range arty with 12000 HP and AOE and fast shots is not okay. There are reasons why people avoid sea maps, and this is one of them. (Emissary is another one)

Now that it's ground-viable, people now can see just how OP it is. Best part: you can't kill it. With Lobster, it can easily retreat. The only way to kill it is suicide Ultimatum or 4 Eos tacnukes. Both cost too much.

why did i see it getting killed so often then?

(flowers) Thanks, thanks everyone, oh you didint have to, but ty. (flowers)

When I first started this, everyone was like I M RESIGNING BECAUSE YOU ARE STUPID and constant flame and "explanations" how behemoth is better. And now you whine that my strat is actually OP.

Yes sea general on land is most satisfying award for me currently along head hunter https://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/490577.

Because I dont bother microing them too much.

Its a new strategy. People haven't mastered it yet. If you lose a Shogun, it's 100% your fault. Also Lobster is kinda hard to use efficently.

It has always been OP, but previously it was easily countered by voting !map until there was no water.

1. You forgot the cost for the pond and the strider fac.
2. The damage output of a single Behemoth is enough to deny terrain. Would you ever place 2 behemoth next to each other because you think you lack damage?

raaar is right, lobster makes ships imbalanced in general. at least thats what i think. Basically every ship can now move on land. i don´t think it´s just the shogun.

aaand since you seem to be so focused on your genious understanding of the game [pikts]:
the game i remember complaining about this was because you start to build the thing when the front broke, when it was finally done ALL your micro went to it, you didn´t build any support units and so on. And since you are indeed an intelligent and capable player I couldn´t understand how your precious thing got bombed so super-easy. You could have made a bantha in this situation and basically got the same complain from me.

Oh I didint forgot anything, but if we calculate everything then lets include 2x fusion costs for behemoth E requirements.

And actually its not as easy to move trollord. Sometimes it bounces wrong and kills lobster in process. Now I know how to move it properly though. One way to lose trollord is kill lobster by accident or intentionally if enemy team.

the fusion has more benefits than just powering the behe, the pond does....

This was true before Lobster too, with air transports or gravity guns. Was it ever practical? I don't think so.

Shogun works because it's a mobile cloakable tanky strider-level artillery and is kind of better than Merlin. But i don't think any of the other ships are worth lobstering on land, even Reef.

in that note, post replays where the shogun was the deciding factor of the game pls.
