Scythe icon

Hey,

I thought Scythe has confusing unit icon, as it's basically a smaller sniper, which often gets me confused. I thought that it should be doable to get an icon expressing raider (triangle), inside circle (cloakies), and being a scythe and gave it a shot. What do you think?

Bottom left one is my redrawn original icon.

Couldn't add poll natively so I added one externally.

Possibly sniper should just get the "heavy support thing" arrow icon like Crabe.

are you saying that the SNIPER shouldnt have the crosshair?

I'm saying we should prefer to use existing role pictograms. Cloaky also has the scout icon free, possibly Scythe could be that but I think the Sniper change would fit better.

Bottom right icon tries to mimic existing scheme as much as possible - a raider but somewhat different.

The style needs to the same as the current icons to begin consideration.

Isn't style the same? If it were exactly the same it would be a sniper or glavie. Also where can I find original file icon parts?

I mean could you elaborate more on that?

Maybe if you want to stick to exactly current pics it could be merged sniper + triangle suggesting raider, or triangle + eye suggesting scout raider.

Also I thought whether there shouldn't be extra icon indicator that unit can cloak, similar to what Widow has.

It's the thought that counts.
Very nice work you have there.

The sources are here: https://github.com/ZeroK-RTS/SpringRTS-Tools/tree/master/MapIconBuilder/MapIcons

The thin black backgrounds in your versions will not show up ingame. You're using a solid colour instead of wide gradients.

How do you add the wide gradients into the image with GIMP?

AUrankAdminGoogleFrog "thin backgrounds" are just contours that inkscape adds by default. My intention wasn't to present readily available icons to take as is, but to show a concept. I'll redraw the concept if you think it's worth considering. Now I don't see the point as you don't take it seriously. My main point was to bring focus to this little issue and maybe read others' good ideas.

I have found the icons looking for icons for loading screens. Previously I was looking in local game files, didn't browse github.

USrankOflameo I don't know what do you mean by wide, but GIMP has gradients tool which is easy to use and has many options.

I think most icons not easily recognizable, consider entire refresh
