Hey guys, so far all but two factories have their own unique Con, excluding the Gunship and Plane Factories. Would it be an idea to have the Plane Con, land and deploy small probes to nanolathe the plan instead of the plane itself? Using a similar method to the reef?

I actually kind of like that idea. Cue hundreds of counter arguments for why this would be bad.

It would probably be OP. Nanolathe bombs though. Hell yeah.

Plane flys, lands, deploys(5-10 seconds) a time limited probe that can only work on that building, perhaps more than one per building?

Planes cannot technically be constructors, only gunships can: Engine limintation. We've discussed some kind of plane constructor, but the implementation would be so clunky as to not really make it worth it. Imagine trying to land the plane in the right spot, or having to press the deploy button every time you want to make a mex!

Forget the whole thing about probes and such, just give us a second con with a gunship movement model. Make it slow and tanky to compare vs. the Crane. Maybe steal the Clam's resurrection for this con, since clam resurrection has provoked such raeg.

I've wanted some differentiation for a while. Heavy+slow gunship con and light+fast plane con. Needs model (idk if that link counts...).

Yeah, I know it's obviously a hover model. It's just that TheSleepless' hovers are the best-looking unused units in ModelBase (unfortunately most of them aren't designed to have rotating turrets).

Giving the Plane Con resurrection is a fantastic idea tbh, it helps balance out the air's weakness to ground, a team packing 10 jumpjet AA at the front ruin's their game.

That 3rd shot is definitely a hastily-skinned 3D model, so a model must exist. I didn't realize TheSleepless had never contributed the model file though.

A good solution how to make plane cons build things:

* There is a unselectable builder somewhere
* A button let you select the otherwise unselectable builder

* If you assign build orders to this builder, a building-target is spawned.

* The plane-"con" can attack building-targets and the building targets build the building.
* The build-target counts the damage it gets from plane-"con"s and build the building using 1 metal for each damage point it received from plane-"con"s.

* It is possible to substract any metal/energy amount as a penalty for free build power, limit the build power to something like 2m/s per building or alter the build power dependent on the remaining damage->built value.

* If the building is destroyed or finished, destroy the attack-target.

* If you issue a repair order, this repair-target only drains energy - make sure that only one build/repair-target is available at a time.

How about the Plane Con, circle around, not like a gunship, around the thing it's nanolathing and have a higher movementspeed but very subjectable to AA.

There is certainly a hacky approach where we can attach a nanolathe to a plane and give it some kind of behaviour with lua, probably landing next to it's target... but yeah... doesn't really seem worth it for the result. Hey if you want to do it though go ahead.
