I think there is a few things not quite right with some super weapons.

I believe the Zenith is the best superweapon, yet its not the most expensive (DRP costs more).

Also nukes become way more effective the larger the map. So if you build a nuke on a large map u can usually fire it middle, left or right. To cover all directions u need at least 3 anti nukes and probably more, proving alot more costly than the single nuke. Im not sure how one would remedy this tho.

So, if its a large, especially wide map, a nuke will nearly always find some juicy targets after scouting, or at least drain enemy metal on ridiculous amounts of anti nukes.

Do you think the the nuke effect has made people play thinner maps?

no, I just fret that when its a wider map, i dred the nuke cuz so expensive to counter

zentih is more powerful but Zero-k needs more superweapons, even new ways to destroy your enemy. but nuke does A good job.

Don't see many Starlight these days

starlight is counterable to degree with walls\shields, and dps sucks for many targets, just 60+ meteors with zenith will takeout a det, starlight superseeded

you could buff starlight -5k cost, i wouldnt complain

60 meteors that hit bang on. So in practice? 200+ meteors (3 minutes worth of firing).

i don´t think zenith is better then drp tbh. but this is a topic where everyone has other opinions again.
drp has faster attack (no charging needed) and a more constant dps-output. it is pretty different to zenith in so many regards, that it´s pretty hard to compare.

guys guys guys the truth i've seen the way zero-k devs are judging the scenario. no no no this shouldn't be based on how much people use units, superweapons, and cheesing. devs should see things from more points of view. one their criteria should be on progressive growing experience, believe me of some players don't use berthas, or they don't use detriment. new players don't understand the full content on how to use them. really give players chance to catch up they are trying and they don't use the old style bertha for some reason it's because they don't know how to balance.

3 reason i will give you there is one their still dominating the other bases learning how to find the right mix, it even took me a while to learn them, second mild players have hard time adapt to new settings, and third zero-k needs to explore more options in the internet to advance and grow. I mean besides good gameplay and nice 3-d models
we ave to see the point of view from players, devs, a third party which is neutral to give a view as well. because the stance zero-k is doing is simple just judge based on on how much players do and what they use.

no no no i won't say not only that i know googlefrog and he is intelligent and he's group are wise but it happens that some corners, some stones are left unchecked and even more blind spots that zero-k has. okay truly zero-k is A simple rts game it could upgrade and more players but patiences and understanding on our devs because it's hard for them. it's A lot of work and they are doing the smart things. is there A way zero-k can uncheck those things and find the formula to make it possible all the things they want. yes more players, more donations, make zero-k by itself make it happen. it's clear you guys want coders, 3-d modeling and the players help ya out. but it's hard and if u like perhaps you need your attention on something else some software out there that can help ya yup some coders u guys need to find and u can find them, definitely. The truth zero-k solution exist.

but zero-k besides new models, buffs, nerfs, and adjusting tweaks. zero-k can find software and web offers ( such as twitcher ) and they get brave and make deals with other website. perhaps the following is to complicated for the devs but there is more things zero-k can capitalized in the internet which i don't have the whole list but pointing on that direction that it could get things like twitch and other website that do the same thing and benefit more for zero-k.

each team has the same disadvantages and advantages. Im no great player but from my point of view every game has different challenges. If I always use spiders I end up loosing to hover or some other player that has more experience to counter spiders etc. You have to change with the game!

Also it seems ppl only complain about units and game play when they loose!

A good most perfectly programmed unit can never beat a bad team.

I agree with moleculeman88 - we should see things from more points of view.

In theory, it looks like this:
- Attack on the area to destroy buildings
- Attack on units to destroy large units

These are two properties that a super weapon can possess.

DRP has the ability to attack the area
Starlight has the ability to attack large units
The meteor possesses these two properties, it happened because each meteorite received buff x2 to damage in a recent patch, this led to the meteor having two roles at once, and the DRP immediately became useless
Moreover, a meteor is capable of destroying buildings that were hidden under the ground better than a starlight and all this for a chic 32k cost

moleculeman88, First I apologize if I used your name in my post improperly. I didn't mean to say that you agreed with the entire post, just on the point that seeing things from different points of view can be a good thing.

I am new to the game and there are many things that confuse me. Could you briefly explain your disagreements that I may use them to my benefit?

Zenith was buffed a few months ago. The main intent was to reduce meteor lag and I figured that erring on the side of a buff was preferable.
  • Stockpile limit 500 -> 300
  • Stockpile rate 0.7s -> 1.2s
  • Damage 1000 -> 2000
The damage-per-meteor boost has made it a lot better at penetrating shields with a single volley. Its damage could be nerfed to 1700 and it would be about as powerful in terms of DPS as it was before.

When balancing we should consider what each of the superweapons is meant to be for. How do the superweapon roles currently work, and how could they be improved?

Starlight:
  • Can be hidden, but is very obvious when used.
  • Goes right through shields and strider health pools.
  • Expensive.
  • Takes time to aim.
  • Apart from the initial aim time, is always up.
  • Cannot bypass thick teraform.
  • Requires scouting.
  • Screws up the map and requires some skill/planning to leave your base.

Disco Rave Party:
  • Does not reveal its location upon firing.
  • Eventually kills anything but has some randomness and requires attrition.
  • Cheaper.
  • Has some aim time.
  • Eventually flattens terraform. Can fire high trajectory.
  • Lower range.

Zenith:
  • Can be hidden, but is very obvious when used.
  • Must stockpile and fire in bursts to deal significant damage.
  • Cheapest.
  • Instant aiming.
  • Wiggly meteors and AoE somewhat bypasses terraforming.
  • Loses stockpile when EMPed or disarmed. Cannot stockpile forever.

Starlight has 5400 DPS with the targeting laser.... and the same amount if it uses its laser burst. Ok this is a big mess. There appears to be no difference between the small and the large laser.

If you want to uplift the starlight and make it a competitor to the meteor, you will need to do as I already suggested, add to it a skill that shoots from many rays from space with a reboot of 2 minutes
How here:
