Ideas to make the game more usable by ordinary players

I feel like the following changes will make a big difference for casual players.

Shorter games:
Most people don't have hours to play games due to work. Here is a quick solution:
- When people RESIGN in a team game, it should count those players as a "YES" in resign polls. This would allow games which are already practically over to

Games easier to get into:
- If you go AFK you should still have a moment to get in game. People use the phone or go to the bathroom waiting for a game and it can jump on them locking them out. Maybe giving them 30 seconds to do something to get into the game would work and keep AFK players from playing still.

Breaks between games:
- Longer breaks between games (think 7 sec per person in lobby) could allow people to pee... also more chance of people being able to get into the lob pot. Cook them lobs!

Do you mean when nightwatch forces AFKers to spec?

+1 on the automatic resign vote, that sounds like it makes sense.

I've missed so many games due to bathroom breaks between games, especially between two seperate hour-long games, as I wouldn't want to have to go to the bathroom during an intense game. +1 on all suggestions here.

Also don't do an automatic map vote when the game is exited. we had this happen the other night and it killed the pot immediately.

-1 on the automatic vote resign for resigned players.

Various people enjoy various things and some like play to against some bad odds. Also, I have seen a lot of surprising turns of events, so "practically over" it's quite hard to assess anyhow. And another plus is that such time can be used to go to the toilet between games :-p.

A little extra time to pipi between games could help.

My reasoning for supporting "automatic vote resign for resigned players":
After you resign, you become a spectator. This gives you a full map view, removes radar shadow, removes cloak, allows you to see the enemy ECO, chat, build queues and order queues. You should not be allowed to change your mind after you receive this information, that would be unfair. If you resign then vote to not resign team, you are sending a message back to the battlefield.

Regarding the AFK /spec problem, maybe there should be an option for spectators to pick up the pieces of a resigned player or AFK player. That way an observer can get a chance to play the forces of a ragequitted player. Dunno how feasible this would be in terms of programming though.

Wait, scratch that idea. Wouldn't work because specs have full knowledge of the map situation. Duh

NOranktalas I understand the line of thinking, but you assume you either have to play or have to resign the whole game.

What if you need to leave your computer? Or you think team can't win but you are willing to let them try? In both cases a resign should not be interpreted as "always vote yes when people want to resign".

ZArankAstran: It would work if there was an option to join as a "team-associated spectator" who only sees what the team sees. Dubious whether many ppl would want to do that though.

Regarding voting, imo resigned players should simply not count towards the number of votes needed for the resign vote to pass (and should not have a vote).

How about after each game there will be a "have a break" pause relative to how long the game lasted? eg very short games wouldn't need a break-time after them but if a game has just lasted over 45mins there could be a break lasting as long as 5 mins with a message on screen "Have a break. Leave your computer for a couple of minutes." Also for promoting health, sitting in front of a computer for hours with no break isn't good.

That's a good idea, but there is a problem because there are some people who don't want to take a break, and they just want to get into the next game as fast as possible because they don't know how much longer they have to play. This is a difficult situation, but maybe there could be a vote on it?
