Hey folks,

I was just wondering what the process for making maps is (Is there an editor?), and then what the process for selecting maps is?

I've made a few maps for OTA and wouldn't mind adding a bit of variety to the pool!

Also, is it possible to make the maps suggested vary depending on player count?

For teams lobby maps, there isn't really a formal process but most maps which don't look super ugly and play at least moderately ok in teams ZK get put in the featured pool. (There are a few exceptions, mostly to avoid having multiple very similar variants of a single map concept like the different flavours of DSD or SSB.)

The matchmaker map pool rotates every few months, typically based on a combination of a user survey to identify unpopular maps and some discussion amongst developers and/or in #zkmap to find reasonable additions.

If I recall correctly a limited amount of this happens already.

https://github.com/ZeroK-RTS/Zero-K-Infrastructure/blob/master/ZkLobbyServer/autohost/MapPicker.cs#L69-L76 should be the extent of the logic used to filter maps by player count, which filters out maps like 12*10 or below from games having 12+ players.
