What with that AI Lance obsession?
Its often worse than some drug addictions!
A handfull is fine. A handfull below 5th min. is like "seriously?".
Once the Lance count reaches double digits its stops beeing funny.

About the Arty Argument:
Why NOT other facs too? Only other fac i often see ai getting multiple is impaler but those rarely reach double digits.
In most cases not more than like 7 Impalers.
Emmys maybe 3 at most.
Nimbus maybe up to 5, 2 most of the time.

About the "kill before they acumulate" argument:
They die like flies! (To get back to the drung comparison:) AI resupplies Lances(and Halberds) faster than some cartels cocaine!
The small unit suicide counter works well early game, in bigger rooms in mid-late game its often counter artillery/tanking with shields.
I think Lances are one of the main reason tank fac just gets (alomost cuz Tremor defence is a thing) completely shutdown vs many ais and amph can only be driven unter moderate casulties. Theres a sweet spot with few ai where tank fac can dominate but that vanishes as soon as the game gets bigger. Amph shines on uneven terrain, the more hilly the better.

What are your experiences in PvE lobbys?
Have you also seen those 12+ Lance Balls? (Or double clicked lances as spec and noticed youve just selected like 40 units)
Those Halberd swarms running arround and no matter how many of them you kill theres ALWAYS another one?
Also got your stuff lanced well below the 5 min mark?
Got everything short of pala/detri pretty much oneshoted?


Do you people think its normal/ok or should the develobs provide AI with a stay at a Lance rehab clinic?

(Ex: We had 100+ Lances in Future Wars map Europe until unknownrankShaman looked into it. Since the AI base code should be the same maybe he stumbled upon something that could also help us better understand AI Lances behaviour in Vanilla)

If it's effective I don't see a major issue with Brutal AIs spamming lances. I'd prefer Brutal AI being limited by speed (APM) rather than made stupider. Or are you saying its not always effective? Maybe spreading them out more rather than bunching them up like it tends to would be a good change.

Maybe lances themselves are OP, but rather than rehash that here there's been several other recent threads about whether lances themselves need changing:

You could edit AI configs and add some better ones. There is probably a lot of long hanging fruit. For example I migrated the comm morph definitions today, and the config doesn't seem great (or is at least out of date).
