Tournament Record

As a relatively new player to Zero-K, I had a thought about tournaments in Zero-K and thought I'd share it to see what everyone thinks about it. Zero-K tournaments are entirely for fun and bragging rights, but after a tournament is over, it could get quickly overshadowed by other tournaments and other events. Those who participated and won in any given tournament are likely to be forgotten within a few weeks. In short, the incentive of bragging rights to participate in a tournament is rather short lived.

I feel like it might encourage more people to participate in tournaments if some kind of public record was kept of each tournament's result, namely those who participated, what their final ranking was, and who won the tournament. I think this public record could be kept/displayed in a couple potential ways:

1. On the wiki, either on a single dedicated page, or having each tournament have its own page
2. On a dedicated forum page similar to the "Ladder" page
3. On individual's home/profile pages. Specifically, if they participated in a tournament, a subsection of their profile would be available for viewing, which would list the tournaments they've participated in, who else participated in those tournaments, and what ranking the tournament participants achieved (Similar to the list of the player's battles)

On a side note, I don't think that giving people "medal" icons (gold, silver, bronze) for placing in tournaments would be productive as I feel like it'd quickly just become another number like the other medals that are currently used for game statistics.

Just some ideas for thought, what does everyone think about this?

Sounds good. A start can be made on a wiki page (by anyone) by trawling through tournament threads as they tend to have the results at the end.

This page exists on the deprecated wiki, but nobody has updated it in some time: https://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/20258?Search=&User=&grorder=&grdesc=False&grpage=1

There might be a more up-to-date version somewhere, unsure. I would strongly recommend transferring this to the new wiki rather than continuing on the old page.

I can get a start transferring tournament results to a wiki page after the tournament this weekend.

As long as there's someone to always keep the information on that (new) page up to date, there may even eventually be a prominent link to it from the home page. The only issue I see here is actually having someone to always keep it updated.

I'm willing to keep it updated going forward. It's something I think would help a lot, and as I suggested it, ill keep it updated as tournaments come out.

That's a good page for old tournaments. The newer ones can be filled in with forum searches.

Or perhaps there could be a better describtion in the "awards" section on your profile - everyone could get an award for participating, and there could be a describtion of the event (eg. 3v3 with new players tournament on 17.6.2023 hosted by Mudosaka)

There's the commemorative coin award for community events. I think I like it being a generic stackable because specific ones probably make for some sort of FOMO. Perhaps the rules could be relaxed so everyone participating gets the bronze coin or something like that, though idk what to do with the existing ones.

I thought this thread was about weaponised FOMO?
