As a relatively new player to Zero-K, I had a thought about tournaments in Zero-K and thought I'd share it to see what everyone thinks about it. Zero-K tournaments are entirely for fun and bragging rights, but after a tournament is over, it could get quickly overshadowed by other tournaments and other events. Those who participated and won in any given tournament are likely to be forgotten within a few weeks. In short, the incentive of bragging rights to participate in a tournament is rather short lived.
I feel like it might encourage more people to participate in tournaments if some kind of public record was kept of each tournament's result, namely those who participated, what their final ranking was, and who won the tournament. I think this public record could be kept/displayed in a couple potential ways:
1. On the wiki, either on a single dedicated page, or having each tournament have its own page
2. On a dedicated forum page similar to the "Ladder" page
3. On individual's home/profile pages. Specifically, if they participated in a tournament, a subsection of their profile would be available for viewing, which would list the tournaments they've participated in, who else participated in those tournaments, and what ranking the tournament participants achieved (Similar to the list of the player's battles)
On a side note, I don't think that giving people "medal" icons (gold, silver, bronze) for placing in tournaments would be productive as I feel like it'd quickly just become another number like the other medals that are currently used for game statistics.
Just some ideas for thought, what does everyone think about this?
