The similarities in our lives are that, despite the many cultural changes, we are still dependent on one another. At times, too much; at times, just enough to enjoy each others. At the same time, this dependency made us invent greater cures, more available food, and far greater connection than we ever did in the past, as we spent more and more time with each others.
In other areas, war still decides many matters. The one who can threaten another makes the rules. Just like knights were glorified in the past, many people admire veteran soldiers in our age. And everyone wants to be that one hero who went against an army, alone, and prevailed. And yet, even now, we honor a honorable soldier: A soldier can have slaughtered many people, but if he didn't fight for a good cause, just like in the past, he will be condemned and, perhaps, exiled. What changed are the weapons they use, as the people behind them are the same, both in terms of flaws and in terms of honor.
And finally, in our modern age, anyone can read. When writing a book was a luxury, today, it is a commodity. However, some things never change: Commissioning art is still reserved for nobles that can afford it, it requires extensive reading to become a scholar, and those who can afford to work less have the opportunity to learn more.
In a way, our world is different, but in a way, our world is same. The history does not repeat, but it sure rhymes!
