I really like games that include logistics, things like Factorio
what if Zero-K had a logistics mode? vehicles requiring fuel and ammunition delivered to them or returning to base to fuel themself
I don't think it would be too hard to create, the difficult part would be balance but I feel this is more just a fun thought concept than something that'd really be done
i think it could be easily achieved by making two new stats, "ammo" and "fuel", they will behave exactly like EMP and disarm, but the only way these two meters fill, is when moving/shooting, and the only way to reduce them, is to move them close to a refill station or have a refill unit nearby them
it'd probably be easy enough to make the grid act as a "refill zone", it might drain energy and metal when refilling, it might need to be a powered/connected grid, depending on how far we want it to go, and the only new unit it might need is a mobile energy pylon similar to aspis and aegis, being able to morph like that, so ammo isnt bound to one factory type
could go a lot more in-depth making a specific unit for each factory who's sole purpose is to be a resupply transfer vehicle if you could figure out how to have it "store supplies"
I do understand that this idea would only really be fun in extremely low income maps, where you'll not have many units in play at once, or maybe if you can add something like the retreat when low toggle but for ammo and fuel!
you'll also need to carry ammo to your forward turrets, or fully hook them up to the grid, I can imagine people frequently setting up charon routes or djinn gates between their various forward posts to keep them functional!
this will probably need a lot of defense stuff nerfed, shields absolutely, maybe they should only recharge when hooked to a grid, and most HP and repair speeds will need tweaking since attacking would be a lot less persistent
just thinking aloud here, let me know what you'd all think about it
