I very much enjoyed when we had small medium and large team rooms as a standard, and as far as i recall think it worked (apart from the juggler at that time...).

Why not make:
large team room (e.g. 10v10 max)
medium team room (e.g. 5v5 max)
small team room (e.g. 3v3 max)

people entering the room above the limit can only spec?

Measnwhile: Is there currently an option to create such a room by mayself? Can I limit the number of players in an own room? I thought this option was there, but now i can't find it any longer. Where do i have to look?

10 vs 10 not all can play , need a good comp to that.
So smaller rooms will be great, 1 of my clan mates stop playing becouse of that, all time big maps and a lots of players. 6 min and hes CPU was 70% after 5 min more catching up and cant play it.

1) you can go into a room and type !lock
then no other players can join until you type !unlock
Ofc stupid to use since not even specs can join etc.

2) With a lobby that has a "host" button you can open your own room, in the host-window there are options for max players etc.
Should work in springlobby and TASClient. (not zkl last time i tried)
Use [x]relayhost option so that other players will be able to connect.
(Retry until you get a relayhost that is not in australia)
Sometimes relayhosts are down and then it simply does not work.

3) I think you can also send !spawn command to autohosts or something?
But idk how that works and if/how you can set options like playerlimit.

tl;dr
it sucks

In ZKL just click "Open New" -> name it "SMALL TEAMS: Newbies welcome!"

If somebody knows a springie command to limit players that would be fitting to use here, but until then you could !boss yourself. Last time i tried i didn't even get enough players though, so too many players usually isn't the issue anyways.

There is also the option of running your own autohosts with whatever settings you want.
Though that requires a server and you must know how it works.
Maybe we could ask the admins of some BA host if they can also host a 3v3 zK one?
Not sure if it would work with elo, but who cares.

mhm...as i only use ZKL...

don't want to run my own server, just want room, where it can be ensured that only the to the title fitting number or player can play...

Too many players is in general an issue, as people tend to flock to the largest game(well nkown to us all) as long as they have chance to play there. Therefore i would in general like to have rooms with maximum player number. Else i won't work.

I have started "small teams" room with max 6 players on knorke's suggestion. It has no automation so dont forget to balance before start.

Also teams hosts are now set to auto split at 22 people, so more smaller rooms should now be more common.

Small rooms and land only until some ppl start to learn that

(Can we turn off all experimentals in begginers room, there is no point to them have all at begining if they dont know basics tactics)

EXPANSION, MEXES & ARMY IS FIRST.....
if you dont get it see this http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/135445

I was so focused on front line that didn't see that my team mate is
bulding DETRI with 0 expansion and economy ....

22 is too high. 20 is enough to produce two 5v5s.

Otherwise, thanks, seems promising!

With 20, the low skill people tried hard to join higher skill game and didnt start the game at all (tried about 3 times in a row).
With 22, the lower skill game has 6v6 and higher 5v5

I suppose it has to be 22 then. Sadly, there will still be 10v10.

I think there was some text with it or something.

Now if still "nobody" plays smaller games then at least we know not the infrastructure is to blame but that really everybody is noob (or wants to stomp noobs, which in turn makes you noob too) instead of playing an RTS!
