so, recently ive been very annoyed at everyone selecting maps that do not have nice and neat 3 mex starting spots. then i got thinking, how many maps do we have that we can play at highly varied player amounts? not very many. so, i got thinking and came up with a solution to this problem that ive never heard too many people complain about but im sure everyone thinks it. metal maps! maps like full metal plate from bar, (which can be played in zero k except for the giant bar logo plastered on it) duck,(although something a bit more serious) and more could be the perfect solution. now, i hear you. "metal maps would give too much metal and be even worse than ditched!" and "metal is shared you stupid idiot i hate you!" but, heres the thing. i think if the amount of metal that these maps gave was lower per mex it could be much less "eco spam" than current metal maps. for metal being shared, i dont think this actually solves the problem. 6 mexes is great for 1-2, ok for 3-5, and beyond that (to me) is frustratingly difficult to get units out there because of 7 mexes being shared by the team.
metal maps would, to summarize,
1. provide every player with enough mexes
2. be playable with almost any number of players, the only limit being map size.
3. are a lot of fun!
4. all your favourite strategies are still possible, and just as fun.
5. you can still have those maps with way too much eco like you normally would!
actually, come to think of it, maybe random gen maps could also solve this and require less finnicking beyond the map itself.
thoughts? questions? issues with my idea? let me know
