i have posted this before but when the lobby splits into 2 games it shud split equally not one room with noobs and 1 room with experienced players. becuase wen i get shoved in noobs room even tho im level 47 it ends being a waste of time because they dont know what to do and i cant do anything about it because they dont listen.

its the usual, they dont expand, they porc etc etc...

they dont learn with all the noobs together, who are they going to learn from? i think its just all the experienced players wanting to stick together not wanting to have noobs in the game.

its not a very friendly system for noobs even tho its the "newbies welcome" room

Try using your skill to win quickly .. if you do it couple of times you will decrease your chances of ending there.
Also clans matter.. perhaps your clan-mates were lower skill and it moved you togheter?

On one hand you are experienced and dislike playing with newbies because they don't know what they are doing. On the other you are complaining because newbies have noone experienced to play with and teach them what to do.

Pick one or the other, you can't win two counterproductive arguments at once! :P

If its the first option, well then room split is perfect, because it separates the pros from the nubs. If its the second, that person should be you! :) If it makes you feel any better newbies ignore me all the time, that is just their nature.

Satisfying everyone completely is an impossible task. If you come up with some ideas for increasing the overall utility please share.

Consider that when you are placed with higher elo players, they feel the same frustration you feel, only they feel it about you. Now imagine that frustration when the elo difference is not 200 or so, but 800.

This is why it's very bad for new players to play with high skill players. Not only are they just totally destroyed without knowing why, or win based on someone elses actions and thus never learn what they are doing wrong, but that frustration of the experienced players you describe is directed at them.

the thing is tho, i cant beat them to get a higher elo because my team always dies and i cant beat 7 people on my own, and its also full of trolls who build striders at the start etc people like kzz and captubar or watever his name is. so im stuck between a rock and a hard place, i cant win. just watch the replay with me on evo rts porc map, the worst play ive ever seen! http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/139830

That game composition looks fine, lots of experienced players + a newbies vs team with 3 experienced and 2 newbies.

If you increase your skill ELO will follow.

Or, explained the other way around: If the teams are considered balanced from an elo perspective and your team keeps losing, then it's not because your team is full of noobs, since an equal amount of "lowskillness" (don't want to insult anyone here) is sitting on the other side of the map. Apparently the other team can deal with newbies better.

since u watched the replay did u not see my team faffing around, i was the only one with units.

>complains about being stuck with noobs

>wants to remove elo separation, thereby increasing the number of players stuck with noobs (and the magnitude of the elo difference involved)

>is oblivious to the fact that he is, in fact, one of the noobs the experienced players would now be complaining about

Also, if you lose every match you play, the only constant factor (besides the game) is you. Think about that for a bit.

If you're worried about your skill being swamped by a lot of other players, play some smaller games (1v1-3v3) to increase your elo. You will also find that you get better at the game by playing these kinds of matches too, because you get more power over the decisions and more feedback over whether they are correct or not.

i dont understand how the elo system works. like is the elo won in a teams game distributed evenly? or do lower elo players get more elo? and do u get elo from awards like the ca award? and wen u say increase ur skill do u mean just get better at the game?

You get elo for winning and lose elo for losing. Nothing more. Also, the sum of elo lost/gained over all players in one game is 0, so the average elo stays constant. The elo lost/gained is the same for all players in a team.

Elo is designed in such a way that a certain elo difference always reflects a certain win chance (as shown by !predict), so a 1800 player has the same chances against a 2000 elo player as a 1400 against a 1600 elo player. The bigger the elo difference, the more elo is exchanged (the system is designed to be self-correcting).
Also, the more games you played the more stabilized your elo will be (read: you won't gain/lose as much elo per game).

Only the devs know finer details of elo calculation, this is all i found out from observation.
