Strange wild idea: capture only

Basically, what would happen to the game if all units only dealt capture damage?

With and without the hierarchical control scheme that domis have. Also with and without the ability to self-D stuff.

Endlessly snowballing battles seems possible to me, yet a single raid can deal massive amounts of damage if the hierarchical control scheme is in and the raid hits something far up the chain.

With auto-selfd, it's the same as everything would deal normal damage (well capture damage doesn't directly relate to HP, so it would make low-HP units better, you don't have to pay for useless HP). Hierarchical doesn't make sense in this context.

So about non-auto-selfd:
Without hierarchical: Law of the double. Whoever has the slightest advantage takes home twice as much as he began with.

With hierarchical: This gets interesting, it's a matter of building as many trees (-> hierarchy) with your captured units, where each layer protects their "overlords". This translates to "lose as few of your selfbuilt units as possible", which gets gradually easier as you capture more units.
The entire mode would be hilariously frustrating still. It's the steepest slippery slope i can imagine ("cliff" would probably describe it better), and since early raiding would mainly be decided by luck (like domi vs domi currently), you might just as well flip a coin.

i like the idea, although you will need to rebalance much stuff. you also have to either make AoE units more powerful or let AoE be capture damage(better way).
a way to avoid the massive lag that would be in a cap-only game: make some units deal real damage (ca. 50%), so you can decide between pay a little metal for damaging units (linear) or pay a bit more for cap-units (expotential)(higher risk)
@MauranKilom self-d can get turned of, so you will not self-d units which are useful for you, you will only self-d the units if you dont want to risk that a kill of your capturer will let you lose the game

next idea: make all normally built units captured by controlling com, that would be a REAL assasin mode

best idea: assasin-mode, 1/4 of all units deal hacking damage (sounds better than capture for me), some epic hack-all gameender weapons (hacking-nuke(nano-hackingdrones)), and a good risk-to-worth-to-cost ratio (also named "balance")

I think that this goes in the same category as sumo bowling, sounds fun but insane. That said, like sumo bowling it could be worth a go.

Biggest balance problem is probably that HP would become useless. Cost is all that matters for capture speed. Second biggest problem would probably be THE WHOLE SCREEN IS FOCKIN FULL OF WHITE LINES.

thats why i want some units to do actual damage rather than hacking other units. every unit has a specific amount of hackHP and damageHP, so there might be almost uncapturable units as well as almost undestroyable units(the second class would either be very slow or have a self-d-on-capture module(capture damage destroys it rather than capturing it). the game would get VERY interesting and also very complex.

Nawww. Either all capture or none at all. We can just change capture to use HP instead of cost.

wooden pc?
the only really bad pc is my coding notebook (without openGL xD), my gaming pc is good enough for such a game mode.
@skasi i think the combination of real damage, capture damage, real HP and capture HP would make this gamemode real interesting, cause you have to decide to destroy an enemy unit or pay a bit more and capture it; there would be anti-capture as well as anti-damage strategys...
