auto pre build constructions

In games, I saw some players pre building constructions and I dont know how to do it!
per example:
A worker build a line of solar generator, but for each, he only begin it and go to the next one without finishing the previous one. The result is a line of unfinished buildings (and so a care-taker finish the job later). The player does not do it manually because its too fast (especially with flying workers)

Anyone knows how to do that?

Hold "Q" or "shift"+"Q" when ordering your constructor.

thanks! I will try it as soon as I will be back home.

Alt+Shift+Q works too!

He probably saw me making 10x10 block of spaced windgens using aircon and nano in middle :D

Yea Rafal, it was you x)

I am just wondering why we dont pre-build large lines of defenders to have nearly free decoys... because its very quick and cheap

at this point, i want to mention again that i strongly recommend hitpoint decay of nanoframes after a certain time.

You're 'queuing' up nanoframes for later construction, so, yeah, it's easy to remember: Q. It's a shame that stuff like this isn't documented but you can imagine if we had all these buttons in the integral menu....

DErankAdminmojjj That would just add a micro task. If nanoframes decay after 10s of inactivity you could simply prod them all with your nano turret every 10 seconds.

I'd also like to do something to prevent idle nanoframes from being useful. They're good blockers and decloakers. I haven't seen any ideas better than what we have.

I think at least the decloaking part could be tackled without too much issues. It won't stop the blocking, but still takes something off.

Nanoframes no longer decloak?

Didn't last time I skuttled someone with nanos nearby. Didn't for a few weeks now.

Wasn't there some widget in BA that would auto nanoblock when you pressed a button?

If not it shouldn't be so hard to code:
For any constructor
Nanoblock mode: ON/OFF
Click an enemy unit, or a location on the ground
The con will non stop initiate an LLTs (or w/e building) in the area in between the target and the con reachable by it's nano range.

This is exploitation of the engine to it's max but not more or less gimicky as newton widgets.

All nanoframes could have their hitvolumes decreased to a tiny area around their aim-at-point until 10-20% constructed, ensuring they can be hit but making it practically impossible to nanoblock.

Doesn't that make big units (a factory for instance) harder to hit? The distance from the edge of the real hit sphere and a small area around it's center can be significant.

Yeah, but the only situation you're really going to want to be concerned about killing a nanoframe ASAP is in turret wars, and A. All turrets are vertical and thus the distance reduction would not be great. B. All turrets are accurate enough to not lose any DPS shooting at a smaller target.

We could make the hitvolumes the same area but just very flat.

That sounds good Rafal. Care to code it? The structure would start with a hitvolume poking just above ground level and slowly rise to full height. Perhaps it should be at full height at 1/3 completion (to match the animation) but that's only about 12 spent on a windgen.

The aimpoint has to be moved such that it is just below the top of the hitvolume for the cases in which the final location is outside the hitvolume. This also needs to be integrated with gadgets and LUS which mess with a unit's hitvolume.

It should be possible to make a structure unable to decloak by moving it's center deep below the ground. The fake terraunit for terraforming uses this method.

I'd probably get around to coding this in a few months because it will take a bit of dedicated effort.

That's over one second of building. And a lot of wasted resources (if you want to spam it in order to avoid being shot).
