Tl;dr:
Another game mode from someone some of you already know.
It's Capture The Flag in Zero-K.
Steal flags and force enemy team to self-d, when they are out of flags.
Beware same thing can happen to you.
Before you ask (again) - flying units can't move flags around.

I have not much to say this time.

Ah you might also bug report here and brainstorm how to make this mod more fun or balanced.

It also fits well with nodef=1 mod option. Try it out.
To try it out simply use "!setoptions ctf_enabled=1" command.
You might want to try either split or corners spawn boxes.
zk v1.2.3.1 (stable) has ctf 0.1.2 (latest).
Game mode was made in 7 days.

Known issues:
- Flag bases may have strange positions, if it's not corners or split spawn positions. Please use split/corners on 1vs1 maps, if they have strange positions or you experience strange unfair flag bases positions.

Please suggest another way to make it more beneficial to stay on offense.
Also note that entire zero-k concept is to give benefits to players who stay on offense.

This game mode proposes giving more resources to players who stay on offense and steal flags successfully instead of porking.

For the same reason additional (or backup/replacement, would be more appropriate, since you don't get more than you initially had when game began) rule was implemented, in order to give losing team another chance.

You can. Using com select button that's top-right corner by default. Also it's quite obvious you didn't even open wiki page.

Also, what about Djinns? Do those teleport the flag with the unit or does the unit just go away and drop the flag?

Passengers can't pick up flags. Transport units can't either.

EDIT: They can only pick up flag, if they are not cloaked, but after that, they can cloak and they stay cloaked. BUT! The flag gives away their position via gfx colored pillar effect. Once you see one, you know for sure that cloaked unit is holding the flag in that location.

Teleporting flag via djinn wasn't tested, but there shouldn't be anything blocking that. I mean in the first place deploying djinn (either djinn or beacon) anywhere near enemy base is quite hard (either can be destroyed if spotted).

Djinn teleports from remotely deployed Lamp teleport beacon to itself, not vice versa.

It's fairly useless for insertion, but could be very useful for extraction.

In normal zk games nobody uses it even for extraction, because you don't need to run long distances to extract: typically you can receive repairs just a few paces behind the frontline.

Now, in CTF? Hell yeah. I'd love to see at least some use of Djinn.

I'll try not to add new features, until the current version get's into stable (and enabled).
I'll start working on redesigning widget making it more user-friendly pretty soon, but I probably won't commit anything until I get it working for sure.

i thought for a while.. i suggest you simplify the loosing teams reward.. make it automatic so it always activates and gives offencive incentive ie. give them a temarary health and damage bonus based on number of flags.. if they fail to act on it for umm .. i dunno 20sec per flag... then it drops off and they are still behind in eco.

Kinda reminds me of quad damage multiplier you may get in FPS games. Or maybe berserk from doom?
Also do you mean giving this bonus to every unit or only specific ones?

all units would premote a counter offencive.. if it was only coms it would be quiet

Well yeah, it sounds like give everyone doom berserk mode (like constant extra regen, dps and movespeed for short amount of time, and "angered red smile" icon over every enemy unit haha).
I guess I should move all the code for such features from ctf to some other gadget, so @ForlornShaman may use it later in his own game mode.

remember to add weight to flag, so fast raiders can't just rush for flag and get back quickly.
Also this rushing vindi, and straling flag via commander should be fixed.
